Wayne Rooney may leave Everton this summer

Everton superstar striker Wayne Rooney may leave Everton and the England Premier League during the summer transfer window to play in the United States for MLS club DC United based in Washington DC.

Reportedly, DC United are hopeful over a deal to sign Everton forward Wayne Rooney who rejoined his boyhood club Everton in July 2017 having spent 13 seasons at Manchester United. DC United want to get a deal "over the line" to bring former Man United and England captain Wayne Rooney to MLS, says coach Ben Olsen. Everton have given Rooney permission to speak to the American club and a deal has been agreed in principle. Rooney, 32, is believed to have been offered a deal until the end of the 2020 season. Rooney, who still has a year left on his contract at Goodison Park, has visited Washington in a fact-finding mission. Roo made 40 appearances for Everton last season and was their top goal scorer with 11 goals. Rooney holds the record for scoring the most goals in history for Manchester United.

"There is interest in Wayne Rooney from our end and I think there is interest from his end too," added DC United manager Olsen. "Nothing is done, so I don't want to get into talk of arrival until he actually arrives. Nothing is ever done in this world when you're looking at a deal of this scope and size. We'll see, but hopefully, we can get it done."

Former Manchester United celeb-star Zlatan Ibrahimovic transferred from Manchester United recently to compete for MLS club LA Galaxy. Ibra formerly also played for Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona and has been awarded Sweden's best male player award, the Guldbollen, 11 times since 2005.
