SCOTTISH CUP FINAL 2018: CELTIC 2-0 MOTHERWELL

Celtic defeat Motherwell 2-0 to win world’s oldest trophy and double treble

After goals from Tom Rogic, Callum McGregor, Moussa Dembélé and Olivier Ntcham powered Celtic through the Rangers, who had Ross McCrorie sent off, the double treble was still on as the Hoops met Motherwell in the Cup Final on Saturday.

A comfortable victory in Glasgow for Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side won them the Scottish Cup and secured them an unprecedented double treble. Hampden Park was ablaze with claret and yellow, green and white as a huge crowd cheered for their favorite club on Prince Harry's wedding day.

Celtic’s Callum McGregor and Olivier Ntcham got the first half goals against a Motherwell side that appeared to have no solution against the hard fighting Scots - they wasted a couple of half-chances without ever really threatening. Celtic took the lead after 11 minutes with a sublime strike from Callum McGregor from a Charles Dunne clearance. McGregor took a touch to control the ball with his left foot and struck a perfect half-volley with his weaker right foot. The hard-hit ball went past goalie Trevor Carson, off the post and into the top corner. Then at 25 minutes, Olivier Ntcham doubled Celtic’s lead with a long, low drive into the bottom left-hand corner that took a slight deflection off Cedric Kipre, who turned his back to the shot and past Motherwell goalkeeper Trevor Carson.

Celtic goalie Craig Gordon gets credit for the clean sheet. Gordon was declared fit after missing Celtics’ last three matches with a knee complaint.
