La Liga Chief on Neymar: ‘I’d be more worried if Ronaldo or Messi left’

Football fans and the media have gone wild regarding the future of Selecao superstar Neymar who has been in the spotlight of media outlets worldwide for several weeks, with the Barcelona star being heavily linked with a 222 million Euro departure from Catalunya. Conflicting reports point to the fact that no one other than Neymar himself really knows where the former Santos standout will compete next season.

La Liga President Javier Tebas talked about the issue of whether or not Neymar will leave Barcelona and the Spanish La Liga and what the potential effect of Neymar’s proposed world-record transfer from Barcelona to PSG would be.

Media outlets worldwide suggest that a move for the Brazilian would be a devastating blow to the future prospects of Barcelona. However, La Liga President Javier Tebas is not worried and made the following comment when questioned on the potential commercial and financial impact on both Barcelona and La Liga that could stem from losing such a global superstar.

La Liga and Barcelona are bigger than Neymar,’ said Tebas. ‘I would be more worried if Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi left.’

Tebas went on to reveal that he plans to report PSG to FIFA, whether they decide to pay Neymar’s release clause or not.

‘Even if they don’t pay the release clause we will report them,’ added Tebas. ‘They cannot make up some commercial numbers that are bigger than Barcelona or Real Madrid. Nobody believes that, which means that the state of Qatar is injecting money and that violates Financial Fair Play.’

Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona from Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone revealed today his thoughts on the interest of Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona and other top clubs in their superstar striker Antoine Griezmann. Since having arrived at Atletico from Real Sociedad in 2014, Frenchman Griezmann has gone on to become a key football player and one of the most sought after football stars in world football, with his technical ability, and talent for goal making - the 26-year-old is a key asset for the Rojiblancos. The Blaugrana target Griezmann is no doubt being sought by Barca due to the uncertainty of Neymar's future with Barca. Neymar reportedly is getting close to a world-record switch to Paris Saint-Germain, Griezmann, along with Philippe Coutinho, Eden Hazard, and Paulo Dybala, has been targeted as potentials at the Camp Nou before the end of the summer. The 43-time capped international Grietzmann has already rejected the advances of Premier League giants Manchester United this summer, though Atletico would be left helpless if Barca decides to activate his 100 million Euro release clause. However, Colchoneros boss Diego Simeone is not worried.

Speaking at an Audi Cup press conference on Monday, the Argentinian revealed:

‘I am not afraid that there is such interest,” said Simeone. "It gives me joy that the best teams in the world are interested in our players, that speaks well both of them and of us, of our work, and that gives me joy.’

Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid from Monaco

Neymar's impending move away from Barcelona to PSG remains a hot topic, as well as France international Kylian Mbappe's potential move to Real Madrid from Monaco, which could hand the Blaugrana a double blow, weakening Ernesto Valverde's starting line-up and seeing their bitter rivals poach perhaps the best young player in the world. Kylian Mbappe was back training with Monaco on Monday as speculation over the Frenchman’s future continues. The 18-year-old is still a Monaco player. Real Madrid are leading the race to sign the France international, who scored 26 goals for Monaco in all competitions last term as they won Ligue 1. Mbappe could move to the Bernabeu in a sensational £161million deal, but some reports in Spain have suggested Cristiano Ronaldo may not support the transfer.
