Nemanja Matic signs for Manchester United

Nemanja Matic signed on with Manchester United from Chelsea on a three-year contract

SUMMER TRANSFER NEWS, GOSSIP

Matic, Perisic, Manchester United, Coutinho, Liverpool, Costa, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City

We are in the final month of the European summer transfer window and there is still plenty of action as the elite clubs are completing big-money deals. Here are some noteworthy deals to keep an eye on in the upcoming days.

Diego Costa to AC Milan from Chelsea

After being top goal-scorer and a key player for Chelsea in their Premier League title victory last season, Costa has been informed that he does not figure in Chelsea manager Antonio Conte’s plans for the upcoming campaign. A return to former club Atletico Madrid was thought to be on the cards for the Brazil-born Spain international, but AC Milan won out over Los Colchoneros, who are unable to register new players until January due to an ongoing transfer ban. Italian San Siro giants are pursuing Costa as part of their summer update.

Mario Pasalic agrees on new Chelsea deal

Mario Pasalic has agreed to a new contract with Chelsea and will go on a fourth loan away from the Blues this season. The Croatian spent last season with AC Milan and had previous spells with Elche and Monaco. Spartak Moscow will land the 22-year-old.

Nemanja Matic to Manchester United from Chelsea

Serbian International midfielder Nemanja Matic signed on with Manchester United from Chelsea on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee. Matic who signed a three-year contract with the option of a further year, is the Red Devils’ third summer signing after Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku.

"This is a very exciting time for the club and I am looking forward to playing my part in creating more history for this great club," said Matic who won two Premier League titles in his second spell at Chelsea, having previously left the Blues for Portuguese side Benfica. Matic may make his England Premier League debut for Manchester United when they host West Ham United on Sunday 13 August.

Ivan Perisic – Manchester United from Inter Milan

In an ongoing saga, Manchester United are locked in negotiations to sign Croatian wideman Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. The Serie A titan club are reportedly insisting that the 28-year-old Perisic will only be allowed to move to United if an offer of £49 million is received. And Inter are now also demanding a season-long loan of Anthony Martial be included in the deal to boot. The Red Devils appeared to cool their interest in Perisic, but Man United manager Mourinho is open to sanctioning a loan for Martial if needed in order to land the former Borussia Dortmund winger.

Marouane Fellaini to Galatasaray from Manchester United

Reports in Turkey claim that midfielder Marouane Fellaini has agreed to personal terms on a move to Galatasaray, who will soon begin negotiations with Manchester United for the Belgium player’s purchase. Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho denied rumors by saying Galatasaray have more chance of signing him than Fellaini, and the ex-Everton man is “too important” to be sold. Fellaini has less than a year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford and may consider playing regular football ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona from Liverpool

With the cash flow expected from Neymar’s upcoming transfer, titan Spanish La Liga club Barcelona is looking for squad reinforcements, and Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho is on top of their list for a move to Camp Nou. The Brazilian has been linked with a Barca switch for more than a year but his countryman’s exit is set to accelerate Barca’s efforts to sign the 25-year-old. Liverpool are said to be extremely reluctant to part ways with their top goal scorer, but Coutinho is “almost certain” to be calling the Camp Nou his home by the end of the summer transfer window.

Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool from Southampton

Liverpool almost signed Virgil van Dijk earlier this summer after agreeing to terms on a move for the Dutch defender. But Southampton reported Jurgen Klopp’s side to the FA over an illegal approach for the player. After Liverpool issued a statement proclaiming the end of their pursuit of the former Celtic centre-back, reportedly the Merseysiders will move for van Dijk if Southampton indicate a willingness to negotiate his sale. The £60 million-rated defender for the Saints will be the target of showdown talks with manager Mauricio Pellegrino soon.

Riyad Mahrez to Roma from Leicester City

Earlier in the transfer window, Riyad Mahrez was linked with a move to Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, but Serie A side Roma now appear to lead the race for Leicester City winger Mahrez who gave one of the outstanding performances in the Foxes’ amazing 2015-16 Premier League title win and was a key player in helping Leicester to earn a spot in the Champions League, Mahrez was unable to duplicate the form that caused him to be voted Players’ Player of the Year in 2016. Roma are on the lookout for a replacement for Mohamed Salah who left the club for Liverpool earlier this summer. Reportedly the Romans are ready to meet Leicester’s £31.8 million asking price for Mahrez who may undergo a medical this week ahead of clinching a switch to Serie A.

Kieran Gibbs to Watford from Arsenal

Watford targeted Arsenal’s left-back Kieran Gibbs. The 10-cap England defender is no longer needed in north London after the arrival of Sead Kolasinac on a free deal from Schalke and is available for about £10 million. Gibbs would have to take a pay-cut if he moves to Vicarage Road.

Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City from Arsenal

Manchester City football players are openly discussing Alexis Sanchez’ potential arrival at the Etihad. This Sunday sees the Community Shield, Watch Alexis Sanchez play in live action in the Community Shield!

Jadon Sancho to Arsenal from Manchester City

Youngster Jadon Sancho is linked with a move away from Arsenal and the Etihad, despite a £30,000-per-week contract offer on the table with Arsene Wenger for the teenager. The 17-year-old Sancho is wanted by RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund but Arsenal are favorites to land the 17-year-old. City believe the youngster is headed for the Gunners, and apparently, Sancho has stopped attending training sessions.

Watford close to Richarlison deal

Watford are close to finalising a £11.2 million deal with Fluminense for exciting 20-year-old winger Richarlison. And the Hornets may have beaten Dutch giants Ajax to land the coveted Brazilian. New Watford head coach Marco Silva identified pace and width as key areas to strengthen Watford’s squad ahead of their Premier League opener against Liverpool on August 12. After selling Dutch winger Steven Berghuis to Feyenoord for £5.6m, Silva wants to invest in Richarlison, who has been winning in Rio de Janeiro. Brazilian sources claim Fluminense president Pedro Abad has given a head’s up to let Richarlison leave for Vicarage Road. Silva is also looking for a left-back, with Watford targeting Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs, although he is stalling over the Gunners’ £14m asking price for the England defender.

Fernando Llorente to Chelsea from Swansea

Chelsea target Fernando Llorente is nearing a return to fitness at Swansea. The Blues made a move for Llorente in January and are again being linked with a move for the striker.

“Fernando’s rehabilitating individually - he has not joined the team training yet,” said Swan's manager Clement. “But assuming all goes well, we anticipate that happening in the next 10 days. I think it is unlikely he will be involved in the first couple of games, but his return will not be long after that. The most important thing is that we get the arm right. You don’t want him to re-fracture it and then end up with Fernando needing surgery because a six-week injury can then become a six-month injury.”

This list of the 2017 summer Premier League transfers is up to date and correct as of Monday, 31 July.
