#10 Wayne Rooney, Manchester United Captain

Zlatan Ibrahimovic talked about the pressure that is on Paul Pogba. Ibra says the pressure on young players is greater than ever and top stars have to learn to enjoy it.

“Pressure is something I enjoy,” said Ibrahimovic. “I don’t know Paul personally to able to answer that for him. But I think he likes it also because, without pressure, we would not be on our toes at the top level. If you want to play at the top, pressure is 24 hours and if you play well or better, the pressure becomes even greater. So it’s something that we learn from and something we have to handle, because we belong to the top – Paul belongs to the top absolutely – and the pressure will be there.”

“I think football is like that today, with the social media and the media building up the game,” continued Ibra. “When I started to play there was no social media, none of these things. But it’s part of the game now. What is too much, what is too less? We don’t know. We just follow the game. I think the pressure I have all around me is nothing compared to the pressure I put on myself. I really want to do, not perfect, but more than perfect, every game, even in training. I’m not happy if I don’t win in training, so imagine what it’s like in the games. That’s the pressure I put on myself and so your [the media and public] pressure becomes like a kindergarten for me.”

“For Paul the game was different. It was a dirty, scruffy game, in the way we had to play more direct, by jumping over the midfield because the pressure Liverpool put on us was hard. It was difficult and the game because difficult. The first game against them was the same. The guys told me every game we play against Liverpool looks like this.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his 14th goal of the season in the Premier League – and 19th in all competitions- against Liverpool. Ibra is in contention for the Golden Boot award.

“It’s not my focus. Of course if I can continue to score goals to help my team great, I am doing it and will do it. But trust me I prefer to win the Premier League, the collective trophies than any individual ones because seeing me winning something and not my team-mates is not the way I want itm” said Ibrahimovic. “I’d prefer to win the trophy and then the individual one comes by itself. That’s a second objective, it’s not my main target.”

Manchester United January Transfers

In the January transfer window, Man United have made a move for 16 year old Brazilian teenager Vinicius Junior who plays for Flamengo. United have made the first attempt to sign him. Reportedly United’s first attempt to secure first option on any eventual transfer has been rejected. Vinicius has a £26m release clause in his contract.

Spain La Liga titan club Atletico Madrid will probably lose their star forward Antoine Griezmann this summer as Manchester United expects to complete a world record £100million deal for the Frenchman. Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign the France international this summer and hinted last week that he will sell players during the January window to fund summer moves. Griezmann, 25, has spoken highly about Manchester United in the past and appears to be keen on a move to the Premier League. Atletico reportedly  expect him to join United in a world record deal that could surpass the £100m mark. Griezmann scored 13 goals in 29 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side this term. The former Real Sociedad forward criticized reporters for asking him about a move away from the Vicente Calderon and said now is not the time to speak about his decision.

‘Don’t hit me with these questions about my future because for players like Cristiano [Ronaldo], [Leo] Messi or [Gareth] Bale nobody asks them what is going to happen next year or where they are going to play,’ said Griezmann. ‘I’m happy and enjoying myself at Atletico, don’t ask me about my future anymore.’
