WEST BROM 0-2 MANCHESTER UNITED

Man United win 2-0 with goals from amazing Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Manchester United superstar striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic was named Man of the Match after scoring two winning goals on Saturday away at The Hawthornes against West Brom. United goalie David de Gea gets credit for a clean sheet. Ibrahimovic has scored 10 goals in his last 9 games for Man United.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's "amazing" performances are not a surprise to Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho who described the Sweden international medal winner as "phenomenal". Zlatan created a lot of excitement around Old Trafford last summer when the 35-year-old signed on a free transfer from French Ligue 1 Paris Saint-Germain. Ibra’s double at The Hawthorns on Saturday took his tally for the 2016-17 campaign to 16 goals.

Mourinho was asked by the media if he was expecting Ibra to make such an impact,

"Yes. I was expecting that because I knew the reasons why he was coming,” replied Mourinho. "He was not coming for the wrong reasons. He was not coming for the money, he was not coming for the prestige. He was coming to enjoy his football and play for one of the best teams in the world.”

"He is playing amazingly well but even in the period he was not scoring goals he was important for us. We bought him for more than just to score goals. In the last two matches he scores three goals and we get six points in two away matches."

"No, I didn't expect it. I was expecting in the Europa League to give him a different situation but we put ourselves in a difficult situation losing the first match at Feyenoord and then every match became important, including the last one,” continued Mourinho.

To date, Ibra has featured in 25 of United's 27 matches this season.

"We communicate and exchange ideas about his situation, his feelings and up to now he is feeling great. I am very lucky as he is not just a normal player. He is not a player who plays in a position where he can hide a little bit. He plays with experience. Amazing central defenders can play until they are they are really old but a striker you cannot hide - and he is doing really well."

Defender Salomon Rondon pushed Marcos Rojo in the chest and then slapped him in the face. A red card was given out to Rondon but no red card was shown to Rojo.

Mourinho said referee Anthony Taylor made the correct call.

"The game was physical. Big strong guys are physical," said Mourinho. They are physical, although we are not as physical as them. Why a red card to Rondon? I agree with a yellow card. Sometimes you look for decisions but I think it is better for the referee to keep control of the game and speak with the players and communicate with the players and keep 11 against 11. I am happy with the decision Taylor made."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a world-class footballer for sure!

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was asked after the match if he needs to be rested. “You know what, I’m here to play and I want to play,” said Ibra. “As a football player you get blind sometimes, you have to listen to your body, but in my mind I feel like a 20-year-old boy. I will keep playing as long as the team needs me.”
