Manchester United’s famous new manager Jose Mourinho is looking forward to the clash with Leicester and optimistic about the outcome.

"Leicester is not a training session. For the players involved last season, the match means something. You have to be a champion to play in the Community Shield,” said Mourinho. "Of course we are going to try and win."

Mourinho took over at United from former United boss Louis van Gaal in the week following Manchester United’s 2016 FA Cup win against Crystal Palace in May.

To date, Mourinho has begun his career at Old Trafford with pre-season frustrations.

A “Manchester Derby” against EPL cross-town neighbors Manchester City in China scheduled for 25 July, was called off after heavy rain ruined the pitch.

"The week of no work in China was really bad for us," said Mourinho. "So we need to train, we need to play, we need minutes for the players. Now we have no chance to train against other teams. We have Leicester before the Premier League and it is not a training session - it is a game.

"We have to face it as a game,” continued Mourinho. “We have the chance to give minutes to some people. Some who I know cannot play for 90 minutes, but of course we are going to try to win it."

Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri’s side will feature strong footballers including high scoring striker Jamie Vardy who is back in training after featuring for the England National Team at Euro 2016.

"All managers and players want to play at Wembley Stadium. It's one of the most famous stadiums in the world," said Ranieri. "This is not a friendly. We will give the maximum and also Manchester United will too. Both teams want to win it."

"We're ambitious but know it will be very hard," continued Ranieri. "I forgot what happened last season. Now my focus is on the new season."

Superstar striker summer transfer from PSG, Zlatan Ibrahimovic along with defenders Chris Smalling and Timothy Fosu-Mensah will reportedly start in Sunday's Community Shield after missing the recent pre-season match against Galatasaray. Ibra made his debut for Manchester United against Everton in the Wayne Rooney Testomonial. Summer signings Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly are all expected to feature against Leicester.

The buzz is about whether or not Paul Pogba will make his debut for United in the Community Shield.
