Sheffield Wednesday Update

The Owls booked their place in the 2016 Championship Playoff Final with a 1 - 1 draw in the second leg at the Amex Stadium, with Ross Wallace scoring the equalizer after Lewis Dunk opened the scoring.

Glenn Loovens has said Sheffield Wednesday’s 3-1 aggregate victory over Brighton & Hove Albion is a "big relief".

Owls’ captain Loovens admitted that Sheffield were not at their best as went head to head with Brighton, but what was important is that his side won and booked a spot in the final.

"It is a big relief. It wasn't our best game but we don't care. We are there and we can enjoy it fully now," said Loovens. "The spirit has been good all season - not only the players but everyone involved."

Brighton face Hull City in the final at Wembley on May 28, after the Tigers won 3-0 in their semi-final tie against Derby County.

Hull City Update

Hull defeated Derby County Agg (3-2) on Tuesday to go through to battle Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley to secure promotion to the top tier of English football. Hull first won promotion to the Premier League by winning the 2008 Championship playoff final at Wembley Stadium in London, but are yet to win major honors. The club came close to winning the FA Cup final in 2014.

Hull City side booked their place in the Championship Play-Off Final after a 3-2 aggregate win over Derby County in an unforgettable night. The Tigers entered their second leg with a massive 3-0 advantage but were made to battle for their Wembley berth with the Rams aggressively holding them goalless throughout the match, winning 2-0 on the night. The Rams’ Johnny Russell opened the scoring at 7 minutes, and Andrew Robertson scored a second for Derby 10 minutes before the break, making it a 3-2 win for Hull on aggregate. Hull City will appear in an all-Yorkshire final against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday 28th May.

The Owls had previously sealed their place at Wembley by defeating Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 in their two-legged semi-final.
