EPL WEEK 34 UPDATES

Stoke City 0 - 4 Tottenham Hotspur

Fierce fighters in the battle for the Premier League title and a spot in the 2016 – 2017 Champions League tournament, Tottenham Hotspur closed the gap to leaders Leicester City to only five points with a 4-0 defeat of Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Monday.

England International Harry Kane and Dele Alli both scored twice to seal a massive away victory and narrow the points gap difference.

It was evident that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino was proud of his side as he praised the Tottenham winning squad in his post-match interview.

"Stoke wanted to win the game and we showed personality and character,” said Pochettino. "Maybe today is one of the performances that you feel most proud of because of the character to cope with the pressure.”

"We showed hunger and passion. I have a squad of players who feel passion about the game,” added Pochetino. They deserve praise and credit for their season."

Leicester City 2 - 2 West Ham United

Meanwhile, Leicester City earned a point against West Ham, scoring a stoppage time kick and earning a 2-2 draw after Leicester’s superstar striker Jamie Vardy was sent off with a red card.

Leicester only need eight more points from their remaining four games to win the 2015 - 2016 Premier League trophy. It is possible Leicester could conceivably secure the EPL Title at Old Trafford on May 1st against Manchester United if The Foxes results go their way against Swansea City.

Chelsea 0 - 3 Manchester City

Titan club Manchester City is in the third place EPL spot after Kun Aguero scored a stunning treble - key to City’s 3-0 defeat of holding champions FC Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal 1 - 1 Crystal Palace

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal appeared to be lethargic in the beginning of their match with lowly Crystal until Alexis Sánchez broke the deadlock and opened the scoring just before half‑time. Petr Cech let Yannick Bolasie’s strike get past him at 81 minutes making the final score 1-1. So Arsenal are down to 4th behind Man City on goal difference and 4 points clean of Man Utd after being #1 on the EPL Table in January. The Gunners have never missed out on the Champions League with Wenger in charge. They need to be more aggressive and passionate and get Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere back from injury to ensure qualification in the 2016-17 campaign.

Manchester United 1 - 0 Aston Villa

Titans Manchester United knocked Aston Villa out of English football's top flight for the first time since 1987 with a goal from Marcus Rashford. The defeat was Villa’s ninth straight leaving them 15 points from safety with 12 points up for grabs in upcoming games. Superstar Man Utd Captain Wayne Rooney is back from injury and will be important for United to rise up the ladder to qualify for a Champions League spot.

AFC Bournemouth 1 - 2 FC Liverpool

It is evident that superclub Liverpool is on the rise with inspiration from manager Jurgen Klopp! Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino came through and netted giving Liverpool a 2-1 win against Bournemouth.

Relegation Zone

Fighting to remain in the English Premier League next season, Sunderland drew within one point of survival after defeating Norwich City 3-0. Newcastle earned three points by defeating the Swans 3-0, and Aston Villa’s relegation was confirmed after 38 years of competition in the elite Premier League after being defeated 1-0 by titan club Manchester United.

At the bottom of the EPL Table, Norwich is in 17th with 31 points, Sunderland in 18th with 30 points, Newcastle in 19th with 28 points, and Aston Villa in 20th with only 16 points.
