Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid

Real Madrid 3-0 Wolfsburg (agg 3-2) Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick wins Quarter-final 2nd leg tie against Wolfsburg

Spanish La Liga superstar Ronaldo led Real Madrid to a record sixth successive Champions League semi-final with a fantastic hat-trick as the Spanish club overturned a 2-0 first leg deficit to soundly defeat Wolfsburg.

Ronaldo struck twice - at 16 and 17 minutes - to make Madrid level in the tie. CR7 scored again at 77 minutes.

"Goals are in my DNA," said Ronaldo about his 'remontada' a  “perfect, magical night.”

The win sealed a spot in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the sixth successive campaign that Ronaldo has scored more than 45 goals in all competitions.

CR7's treble is his 37th hat-trick for the Spanish side. Ronaldo is the first player in history to net 3 hat-tricks in one UEFA Champions League season.

"It's not bad, is it," beamed CR7. "I'm really happy, it was a great game," Ronaldo added.

"The side played well, we came into the match strongly. We played with intensity in the opening minutes and we scored two quick goals."

Portugal international Ronaldo's two-minute double salvo in the first half cancelled out

Dieter Hecking's side's first-leg lead was cancelled by CR7 within 17 minutes and Madrid continued to dominate the remainder of the exciting match.

"We controlled the game. Wolfsburg were good: they used the ball well, but I think over 90 minutes we were better. We created more chances and we deserve to get to the next round," continued Ronaldo.

Ronaldo's third goal, a free-kick from 25 yards, took him to 16 competition goals for the season, one behind his record of 17 set in 2013 - 2014.

"Obviously it's not something that I'm looking for, but hopefully I can break my own record and score more than 17 goals. It would be a good sign. It will be good for me and good for the team. I'll try my best," said Real’s all-time record goalscorer.

The Merengues and their fans had a lot to celebrate at their famous stadium.

"At the Bernabéu comebacks are always on people's lips," Ronaldo said. "Real Madrid have had many a comeback in their history and we managed one tonight too, so the side is very happy. The supporters were amazing and we must thank them and say well done to them too. It was a perfect, magical night."
