Barcelona 1-0 APOEL - Barca began their Champions League challenge with a win at home, Lionel Messi set up Gerard Pique for the game’s only goal as new Barcelona manager Luis Enrique won his debut European clash

Chelsea 1-1 Schalke - Chelsea hosted Schalke at home ending up with a draw against Schalke, Cesc Fabregas scored for Chelsea and Klaas-Jan Hunterlaar scored the equalizer for Schalke

Maribor 1-1 Sporting - Maribor impressed in their Champions League debut as Sporting returned after a four year absence, Nani opened the scoring for Sporting and teenager Luka Zahovic scored the equalizer in the 92nd minute.

Group H

Athletic Bilbao 0-0 Shakhtar - Bilbao did not impress in their Champions League return, Shakhtar did not continue their eight match winning streak


Porto 6-0 BATE Borisov - Porto thrilled their fans with a stunning win in their opening day clash at home against BATE with goals from Jackson Martinez, Adrian Lopez and Vincent Aboubakar after a hat trick by Yacine Brahimi
