FC Barcelona Transfers Update
Barca is banned from the two upcoming transfer windows after a 14 month ban was imposed by FIFA because the Catalan club breached rules on the signing of international footballers under 18 years old.
Three time European champions, Barcelona appealed FIFA’s bans in April 2014 and their ban was suspended during the current summer transfer window pending the decision. During that time to date, Barca managed to sign superstriker Luis Suarez away from Liverpool for a fee of £75m. Also signed during the window are Ivan Rakitic from Sevilla, £14m, Claudio Bravo from Real Sociedad, £9.5 m, Jeremy Mathieu from Valencia, £15.8 m and Thomas Vermaelen from Arsenal, £15 m.
Yesterday FIFA released a statement that they have rejected the appeals against Barca’s transfer ban in order to protect minors according to the ban rendered by the FIFA disciplinary committee in the respective cases.
FC Barcelona failed to win any trophies last season and may act to strengthen their squad by adding more players in the last three weeks of the transfer window before their ban becomes active.
