Arsene Wenger, Manager FC Arsenal
Emirates Cup Day 2 – Napoli v Porto : Arsenal v Galatasaray
FC Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, is getting his men ready for the 2013-14 campaign - and planning on adding some great footballers to his squad as well when he returns from The Gunners pre-season Far East Asian Tour.
Arsenal played four games during the Asia Tour 2013, with the manager holding an intense training camp on the final leg of the tour in Japan.
Goals from Lukas Podolski and Chuba Akpom ensured a 2-1 victory against Urawa Reds in the team’s final game of the tour.
“We are well advanced in our preparation,” Wenger said on Arsenal.com. “It depends now on how quickly we'll recover from that trip because it was very difficult. It will take a few days to recover from that.
“We wanted a competitive game. We got one. Overall, they are a team that plays very deep defensively and comes out quickly. It was a good test for us.
“We had four very hard sessions in the last two days and we had to dig deep tonight to get through. That's part of pre-season. We still managed to create many chances, but of course we were physically not as sharp as we were. They were aggressive. They made many fouls.”
The exciting Emirates Cup tournament continues on Sunday, 4 August 2013 as FC Arsenal hosts Napoli, Galatasaray, and Porto at Emirates Stadium in London, UK. Day 2 fixtures will be played between Napoli v Porto Tickets, Arsenal v Galatasaray Tickets.
