Real Madrid 3 - 0 Galatasaray

Real Madrid soundly defeated Galatasaray 3-0 at home today, giving them a boost on their way the the Champions League Final. An early goal from superstar Cristiano Ronaldo put Real Madrid on the right road to victory in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

After Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuaín scored to put Madrid in a position so strong that Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos chummed for yellow cards that mean they sit out the second leg and arrive clear in the semi-final. 

"We'll play in a way that will make our supporters proud," said Galatasaray manager Terim prior to the match.

Didier Drogba started up front alongside the Champions League's joint top scorer Yilmaz Barak, with Wesley Sneijder behind.

"They like to attack," said Cristiano Ronaldo, "and that suits us." And Madrid had the lead after just eight minutes.

Ronaldo scored his 32nd goal in 37 Champions League appearances for Madrid, his 191st in 189 games overall.
