Europa League Update - Round of 16 Draw

Premier League giants, Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur move into the Europa League Round of 16 ties after defeating their rivals in last gasp, hard-fought wins in their UEFA Europa League round of 32 ties.

Liverpool FC and holders Club Atlético de Madrid are out of the fight for the Europa League silverware.

Tottenham's Mousa Dembélé fired in a last-minute strike to earn a 1-1 draw and a 3-2 aggregate win against Olympique Lyonnais.

Liverpool came close to a remarkable fightback against FC Zenit St Petersburg, but scored only three of the four goals they needed, including two Luis Suárez free-kicks.

Two-time winners Atlético Madrid are out of the competition. Diego Simeone's side trailed 2-0 after last the first leg. Falcao gave them hope with his 31st UEFA Cup - UEFA Europa League goal.

FC Internazionale Milano and FC Viktoria Plzeň, meanwhile, share the distinction of biggest aggregate victors, wrapping up 5-0 triumphs over CFR 1907 Cluj and SSC Napoli respectively.

AC Sparta Praha fought UEFA Champions League holders Chelsea FC into extra time, but lost to Eden Hazard's added-time late goal. The Blues will face FC Steaua Bucureşti in the last 16.

Newcastle United FC advanced after their first European away success in six attempts. They next play Guus Hiddink's FC Anji Makhachkala.

Europa League Round of 16 ties will be played March 7-14.
