Celtic striker Kris Commons was stretchered off during the UEFA Champions League Group G match between Celtic FC and FC Spartak Moscow at Celtic Park on December 5, 2012 in Glasgow, Scotland after his penalty kick took Celtic FC into the UEFA Champions League round of 16 for the first time in five seasons as a narrow victory against FC Spartak Moskva secured second place in Group G.

With Lionel Messi on the bench, Barcelona tied with Benfica. Bayern soundly deeated BATE, Celtic won over Spartak, Manchester United lost to Clkuj, and Galaasaray beat Braga.

Juventus, Celtic FC and Galatasaray AŞ filled the final three places in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 as the group stage reached a conclusion on Wednesday.

Thirteen berths were already filled for the last-16 draw, which will take place in Nyon at 11.30CET on 20 December.
