Capital One Cup: Arsenal 7-5 Reading

Reading goals by Jason Roberts, Mikele Liergertwood and Noel Hunt along with Laurent Koscielny'sown goal, gave the home side a formidable advantage of 4-0.

Theo Walcott scored in the first half injury time and Oliver Giroud scored a second midway through the second half. Laurent Koscielny's third came with only a minute to go and Theo Walcott fired home a breathless equaliser with second of normal time left.

Arsenal centre-forward Marouane Chamakh and Pavel Pogrebnyak each scored to bring the score even at 5-5.

Then Walcott rebounded with his hat-trick goal and Chamakh came through with the seventh.

Wenger's side mixed of the first-team player and youngsters. The only starter from the weekend was Olivier Giroud.

The 4,000 travelling Arsenal fans considered the trip well worth their time.

With help from Arshavin, Walcott scored home his fifth goal of the season. And, in extra-time a ‘Hail Mary' of a ball forward was collected by Walcott and his shot thumped home from close range in the last seconds.
