Chelsea Striker Fernando Torres To Fill Didier Drogba Shoes

Drogba scored the equalizing goal against Bayern Munich before slotting home the winning penalty to give Chelsea their first ever Champions League trophy in the 2012 Champions League Final.

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo plans to rely on Spain striker Fernando Torres to provide the goals.

Torres left Liverpool for Chelsea for a British record fee of 50 million pounds ($78.57 million) in January 2011.

Torres said he was looking forward to taking on the pressure of leading the line for the European champions.

“I like the responsibility and it is a thing I have been doing all of my life.”

“Didier did everything for this club, scoring the winning goal in the Champions League final, and he was an inspiration to all of us,” he added.

“Our relationship was great and I was talking to him when he decided to leave he wished me all the best and hopefully one day Chelsea fans will remember me as they are going to remember him.”

Torres, who was a second-half substitute in Chelsea’s victory over Bayern Munich on penalties in the Champions League final, is predicting another successful campaign at Stamford Bridge this campaign.

Torres represented Spain at Euro 2012.
