Euro 2012 Wayne Rooney Rests Up

Wayne Rooney, England and Man United

Wayne Rooney says he has “had a nice rest” and “feels good.”

It is important for the squad members to “relax and have a bit of down time.”

Roo can’t wait to be a part of the tournament  - although he will have to wait until England’s third group game on 19 June after being given a red card and two match suspension in a clash against Montenegro in October. The superstar striker is unable to join his squad to compete in England’s first two games against France or Sweden but may return to face Ukraine.

Roy Hodgson still included him in his final 23-man squad for next month’s tournament, believing he can still make an impression.

Wayne Rooney was seen with Michael Owen at Chester racecourse in Chester, England as well.

Rooney, 26, will be fit when he returns from his two-match ban for England’s final group game against Ukraine.

Rooney insists he has “dealt with” the prospect of missing two matches.

“I’ve been back among the squad and training … and I feel good,” he said. “I’ve got a good few weeks before I can play so I’ll get a good few weeks training in and be ready for that game if I’m needed.

“I’ve had a long time to think about missing those first games – obviously it’s disappointing but it’s something that I’ve dealt with. I’m just looking forward to the first game for the lads and hopefully we can get a good result out of that.”

In January Rooney played at the Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf 13 in a footballing foursome that included Theo Walcott, Petr Cech and James Milner.
