Football World Prays 4 Maumba

For two days, amid an outpouring of support from family, fans, and members of the football community, Patrice Muamba, 23-year-old Bolton midfielder, remained in critical condition in intensive care with his long-term prognosis uncertain.

The front page of the Sun newspaper reads "God is in Control" below the subheading "Praying for Muamba".

"In God's Hands" said the Daily Star.

Muamba  collapsed on the pitch just before half-time during the club's FA Cup quarter-final with Tottenham on Saturday. Initial attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, however his heart started beating on its own again later in hospital.

“Hi Doc, I’m fine,” said Muamba as he was gaining consciousness after his heart attack. Muamba immediately asked about his son, “Where’s Josh.”

Lionel Messi and Dani Alves led the tributes to Muamba at the Nou Camp on the night the Argentine broke the all-time Barelceona scoring record.
