Newcastle United's Demba Ba Is A Formidable Opponent

Demba Ba, Newcastle United

Newcastle United 3-0 Manchester United

The Magpie's Demba Ba was a formidible opponent in Wednesday's FA Cup clash between Newcastle United and current Premiership champs, Manchester United.

Premier League champs Manchester United was defeated in a surprise result of 3-0 by the Magpies with help from 15-goal striker Demba Ba (Senegal) and key midfielder Cheick Tiote (Ivory Coast) playing their final game before heading off to play in the Africa Cup of Nations duty.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew knows what a loss the pair will be in the club’s fight for a top-six finish in the England Premiership – Newcastle are currently seventh.

They also hope to progress in the FA Cup in Saturday’s third-round tie with Blackburn.

‘Obviously, I am hoping so, but they are two massive players. You take a huge figure out of one of the other teams and it’s significant,” said Pardew.

‘If you took Wayne Rooney out of Manchester United, probably they wouldn’t look the same.

‘Having said that, we have got players who are champing at the bit.”

The 26-year-old Ba was brought up with his six siblings in a Paris suburb.

Pardew is currently trying to establish contact with the Senegal national team management to determine exactly what they will and will not expect of the striker in training. Reportedly, Pardew may ask to dispatch a member of his staff to Africa to offer their star player support and additional medical supervision for his former knee injury during his stay with the team known as the Lions of Teranga.

"I'm going to have fun with my national team as I always do," an unfazed Ba said. "But I'll come back to Newcastle with joy and play with that same joy again."

The 26-year-old Ba was brought up with his six siblings in a Paris suburb. Ba is reportedly the signing of the season. He has scored 15 goals in 19 appearances. He is second behind Robin van Persie for the Golden Boot in the EPL

When asked what his secret to hsuccess is, he replied with a smile, “Strawberry syrup.”
