FA Cup 3rd Round – Manchester City v Manchester United

All police officers on duty at the Etihad stadium for Sunday's Manchester FA Cup tie will be wearing full riot gear.

Manchester United play at Manchester City in a FA Cup third-round tie on Sunday. More than 5,700 United fans will be attending the match.

With both clubs at the top of the Premier League table, the rivalry between the Reds and Blues has reportedly never been greater and the game will have a larger than normal number of away Man United fans because of the different rules that apply in the FA Cup.

United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson is concerned after his Manchester United side lost 3-0 to Newcastle United on Wednesday night.

Man Utd remain three points behind Manchester City after having suffered a second successive defeat.

“Advantage to them, of course,” Ferguson said. “We had the opportunity – we were playing tonight, they played last night; they won theirs, we lost ours. So its advantage to them. It’s not the time to panic – we have the experience to cope with that.”
