Wayne Rooney Faces Three-Five Match UEFA Euro 2012 Ban for Violent Conduct

Uefa will rule tomorrow on the England striker's suspension for his red card against Montenegro.

Rooney could miss all of England's three group matches in the Euro 2012 finals next summer.

Rooney has not been sent off in any European competition for six years so it is likely the FA would appeal were he to be given a three-game suspension.

The European body's disciplinary regulations article 10(e) state the "suspension for three competition matches or for a specified period for assaulting another player or other person present at the match".

Rooney's best hope reportedly is a two-match ban. Serious assaults warrant a five-match ban.
