Luis Suarez Aims For Liverpool Silverware This Season

With the competition over, the striker will be able to return to Liverpool’s Melwood training ground and link up with his teammates.

The Reds have spent near 80 million (though that fee was offset by the 50 million departure of Fernando Torres) in an attempt to bring more matchwinners to the club and ease the burden off of Steven Gerrard.

With the club landing Stewart Downing, no doubt to feed Andy Carroll’s aerial ability, and Charlie Adam, many gaps have been filled.

The Reds suffered a 3-0 defeat in Saturdays pre-season friendly.

However Luis Suarez is sure that Liverpool are capable of mounting a challenge on Manchester United’s crown.

“At Liverpool we always dream about being Premier League champions,” he told the Daily Star Sunday.

“We know, of course, that it’s a very difficult league to win and very competitive. There are a lot of teams who want to be champions.

“But now we have a squad of quality. We trust our manager and we trust each other as team-mates. We are confident about that.

“We have the ability and I think Liverpool certainly should be aiming to finish among the Champions League places. Then there is always that dream, a little dream, about actually winning the Premier League.

“Maybe not playing in the Europa League this year will really help us. We will be able to focus on the league and on getting as high up the table as possible.”
