Luis Suarez

Uruguay won the 2011 Copa America For Record 15th Time

The two stamped their presence on the world in a positive manner during last summers World Cup.

Liverpool striker, Suarez earned four goals in the Copa America, just one under the Golden Boot winner, Peru’s striker Guerrero who earned five.

Liverpool are surely relieved after their new No. 7 walked away unharmed through the summer tournament.

Suarez , who was level on goals (3) with Argentina’s Sergio Aguero, was aware before the match that a goal could ensure the 2011 Copa America Golden Boot – however the striker was adamant that only Copa victory was his main goal.

“Being top scorer is not the important thing for me,” said Suarez.

“The main  issue is the collective dream of winning the Copa. Personal stuff is secondary  to that.”

“We’ll not forget about those titles but we are thinking about the present,  about carrying on winning.

“Uruguay are not going to waste time celebrating past achievements and past  titles won.”

Former Manchester United man, and Tottenham target, Diago Forlan doubled the advantage before half time and scored another in the final. The brace bought Forlan level with Hector Scarone on 31 goals as Uruguay’s all-time leading goalscorer.
