Chelsea 2-0 Copenhagen - Anelka Scored Twice

Nicolas Anelka scored twice in the 17th and 54th minutes, delivering the victory to Chelsea. Anelka has now scored six goals in his last nine games, and the second half strike was his seventh overall in Champions League.

The Blues were knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend as they lost a penalty shootout to Everton. Previously, Chelsea lost to Liverpool in the English Premier League before drawing against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Ancelotti’s team obtained their desired result in Denmark, a stepping stone on their UEFA Champions League campaign.

The pressure is off Carlos Ancelotti until the next match.

Chelsea are positioned to advance to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a superb two-goal performance by Nicolas Anelka at Copenhagen.

An error by Copenhagen defender Jesper Gronkjaer in minute 17 enabled Nicolas Ankelka to strike putting Chelsea ahead in the first half.

Anelka scored his second goal of the match off a pass from Frank Lampard.

French striker Nicolas Anelka signed a whopping 120,000-pounds-a-week extension deal with Chelsea.

Anelka wants to stay at Stamford Bridge for the rest of his career.

"I hope to sign a new contract soon. I am very happy at Chelsea. I have found a home. Ever since I left Real Madrid, I wanted to find a big club again and I have with Chelsea,” News of the World quoted Anelka, as saying.

Copenhagen played as though they were tired.
