Birmingham glided into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the second successive season after their win over Sheffield Wednesday.   

Meanwhile, Stoke sealed their place in the sixth round with a comfortable victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at the Britannia Stadium with John Carew netting after 14 minutes and his strike partner Jon Walters making it 2-0 eight minutes later. 

Richard Brodie hit the bar in stoppage time as non-league Crawley Town lost to Manchester United in their FA Cup replay. Wes Brown's first-half header won for United. 

A Frank Lampard goal in extra time seened ti secure a place in the next round for Chelsea but a great free-kick from Leighton Baines took the game into extra time before the Toffees won the penalty shoot out.

Chelsea were knocked out of the FA Cup competition after losing their fourth-round replay against Everton on penalties. After a goalless 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard gave Chelsea the lead in the first-half of extra-time before Leighton Baines curled home an excellent 25-yard free-kick in the last minute to take the match to a shootout. Ashley Cole fired Chelsea's fifth penalty over the bar to allow Phil Neville to seal a 4-3 shootout win.

Everton will face Reading at Goodison Park in their fifth-round match on Tuesday 1st March.
