The highlight of the weekend games was Wayne Rooney's amazing goal scored against Manchester City in the Manchester Derby.

Man Utd 2-1 Man City

The Manchester Derby pitted Man Utd and Man City at Old Trafford. Wayne Rooney made history with his powerful overhead volley at 78 minutes. Rooney was supplied by Nani who had opened the scoring for the hosts at 41 minutes. City earned a 65th minute goal from Silva. Rooney provided a touch of class with a goal he described as his “best ever” after the final whistle. Manchester United remains at the top of the Premiership.

Arsenal 2-0 Wolverhampton

Arsenal defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium with winning goals scored by Robin van Persie (16, 56). Arsenal are second in the league, four points behind Manchester United. Wolves finished the day bottom of the table.

Sunderland 1-2 Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur won a hard fought victory away at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light. Sunderland opened the scoring through Gyan at 11 minutes. Michael Dawson equalised with a powerful header from a corner on 44 minutes. Spurs got the winning goal at 57th minute Kranjcar strike to stay in the running for a Champions League place. Tottenham move into fourth ahead of Chelsea - just two points behind Manchester City, with a game in hand. Sunderland are now 7th in the table.

Liverpool 1-1 Wigan

Liverpool’s and Wigan ended up 1-1. Meireles scored on 24 minutes at Anfield. Wigan put up a fight and scocred a 65 minutes goal from Gohouri. Liverpool finished the day sixth in the table, while Wigan remain at 18th, they are level on points with West Brom one place above.

Birmingham 1-0 Stoke

Birmingham was victorious in their home game against Stoke City. Nikola Zigic provided the goal on 93 minutes. Birmingham moved up to 14th - Stoke dropped to 9th.

Blackpool 1-1 Aston Villa

Blackpool and Aston Villa tied with Agbonlahor scoring for the visiting Villans after 10 minutes. Grandin equalized for the hosts four minutes later. Villa finished the day in 15th, one point ahead of Blackpool, who are 16th, with a game in hand.

West Brom 3-3 West Ham

Roy Hodgson managing at Hawthorns brought interest to the relegation battle between West Brom and West Ham. West Brom earned three vital home points when they went 3-0 up in 32 minutes, via goals from Dorrans (3), Thomas (8) and a Reid own goal on 32 minutes. West Ham did a turnaround in the second half with two from Ba (50, 83) and a Carlton Cole (58) strike equalized points. West Brom are barely out of relagation in 17th. West Ham are two points below in 19th.

Blackburn 0-0 Newcastle

Blackburn and Newcastle ended up with a 0-0 draw at Ewood Park. Newcastle and Blackburn finish the day in tenth and eleventh places respectively.
