David Beckham Has A Blister

David Beckham

The midfielder's first match of the new Major League Soccer season with the Galaxy isn't until March 15, so in the meantime, David wants to stay fit.

Midfielder Beckham’s loan deal from Galaxy to Tottenham will be completed in time by Friday for him to play against Man Utd on Sunday, but he will not be able to play against his former club since he is short of the fitness level needed to compete in the Premier League.

Becks arrived at the Spurs' training ground in Chigwell, Essex looking happy to be there.

After Beckham’s first day training with Spurs, manager Harry Redknapp said: “Manchester United this Sunday would be a non-starter even if he does sign. He is not fit to play yet and he knows that. It’s going to take him a few weeks to get back to anywhere near the fitness levels he’s used to.”

Tottenham wants Beckham on loan from Galaxy until mid-March, but the MLS side is sticking to its original demand that he reports back on February 10, following the mid-season shutdown in the US.

Beckham is reportedly so eager to play in the Premier league that he is even ready to take a pay cut for a three-month loan move to Tottenham.

If the deal between Beckham and Tottenham Hotspur goes through, it would be the first time that the 35-year-old will be playing for an English club since he left Manchester United to join Real Madrid in 2003.

Beckham's right foot was at the centre of an injury scare at Tottenham's training ground - the media reported he had been injured. However it turns out Beckham was replacing plasters on his feet due to blisters.

Redknapp, in his jovial way, believes the midfielder has had a positive impact on his squad.

"David's been great around the players. What I was teaching him today was how to wrap his foot round the ball a bit more when he is crossing."

"This is our best chance to beat them since I've been here, for sure," said the manager. "We're at home and I know Alex (Ferguson) will respect us an awful lot, he'll know it's a difficult game.

Beckham first featured for Manchester United until a changing room fracas with Sir Alex Fergusson forced him to look elsewhere. He joined Real Madrid before moving to the MLS to join the LA Galaxy on a record transfer fee. He later had a brief spell with AC Milan.
