David Beckham Deal With Spurs Appears Dead

Beckham was expected to join the Spurs on a two month loan deal, with Harry Redknapp hopeful of securing the deal before the end of the weekend. But Beckham and the Spurs are at a loss with Manager Harry Redknap saying the move is 'unlikely' to happen due to issues over insurance stemming from his last loan spell at AC Milan, where the former England captain was injured in March and sidelined for seven months.

'David will train with us for a month which I think he would like to do. But as for him playing - it's looking like a no goer," said Redknapp.

Beckham added, 'It's important that I maintain a high level of fitness during the MLS off season.

'I'm thankful to Tottenham and Harry Redknapp for giving me the opportunity to train with the team over the next month.

'I'm grateful to the LA Galaxy for allowing to me to train with Spurs. I look forward to getting to work as soon as possible.'

Redknapp added, 'There's a big problem with the insurance so it looks like it's not going to happen.

'It couldn't happen so, not a problem, we'll just get on with it.'

He said, 'He's welcome to train at the club and I'm sure he'll have a great influence on the players.

'David is a fantastic professional - he will be a great influence around the place and I am sure we will all benefit from his winning mentality.

'I think everyone will enjoy having him here.'
