David Beckham is an English footballer who plays midfield  for the Los Angeles Galaxy Major League Soccer team, having previously played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and A.C. Milan, as well as the England national team, for whom he holds the all-time appearance record for an outfield player.

Today, David Beckham is waiting for LA Galaxy to approve a loan deal with Tottenham Hotspur or another Premier League team. The other interested clubs include Blackburn, Newcastle, Everton and West Ham.

"We are waiting on the LA Galaxy's decision," Beckham's spokesman said yesterday.

Galaxy released a statement on December 21, saying: "We are not aware that David is looking to be loaned to any other team and we are fully expecting he reports with the rest of his Galaxy team‑mates in late January for the upcoming season."

As far as Hotspur is concerned, manager Harry Redknapp said, "It is up to Galaxy whether they will let him go on loan, he'd be a good influence to have, the type of lad you want at your club and he'd give the whole place a lift."

Beckham’s spokesman said on Monday that Becks wants to give himself the best possible chance of extending his England career. Tottenham are the favoured option should the Galaxy allow Beckham out on loan. However several Premier League clubs have also noted an interest in having Beckham join their side.

“At the moment we are waiting on the decision of LA Galaxy with regards to a loan move,” said Beckham’s spokesman. “The loan would be a short one until the start of the MLS season. David would then return and play a full season with the Galaxy.

“Tottenham are one of many clubs who are interested but as yet we have not got into any detailed conversations as we are waiting on LA Galaxy’s decision.”

If Beckham joins up with the Spurs, he will face both AC Milan and Manchester United in play. Tottenham will play AC Milan in the last 16 of the Champions League next month and Manchester United in the Premier League on Jan 16.

Four years ago, David Beckham left the Spanish League to come to the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS – going on loan to Milan twice.

Becks is recovering from an achilles injury, but says he would like  to return to the Premier League in England for a few months before the Galaxy’s season begins in March.

Reportedly it all got started when Beckham ran into Jamie Redknapp shopping at Harrod’s and commented that he was interested in returning to the Premier League and playing for the Spurs.
