Chelsea Back in the Running?

Malouda Celebrates

Florent Malouda saved the day for Chelsea as his goal on the hour mark was enough to give the Blues all three points and end Chelsea's loosing streak.

Chelsea fans are celebrating the Blues’ 1-0 victory over Bolton on Wednesday night. The victory ended the team’s winless run of six straight matches. Fans are getting hyped that Chelsea are back in the running for the English Premier League trophy.

There is still a long way to go in the English Premier League, and the title’s defending champions are aiming to eliminate the 4-point gap that separates them from current league leaders Manchester United.

Fans should be aware that the Red Devils may create a 7-point lead above fourth placed Chelsea as they have played one game less than the Blues who have reached the 19-match-day mark in the competition.

Coach Ancelotti remains hopeful of a bright future for his side saying. “We needed to change the atmosphere and to change the trend. Malouda’s goal was a weight off our shoulders.”

“But, we’ll have to wait to find out if we have turned the corner because we’re still not in our best condition, confidence or atmosphere. But, the win against Bolton was an important step.”

“We can improve. We have to improve. And, I hope 2011 will be the same as 2010.”

2011 kicks-off with a home match against Aston Villa on Sunday. Aston Villa have won none and lost six of their last eight Premier League visits to Stamford Bridge. Aston Villa have lost five of their last six Premier League games.
