Kevin Davies Thrilled with England Call-up

Bolton captain Kevin Davies has been one of the Premier League's most consistent performers. Davies won three caps for England at Under-21 level - now 33, he is prime for senior recognition as Fabio Capello named Davies in his 23-man squad for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro at Wembley on 12th October.

"It's a really proud moment for me and my family," said Davies.

"I've just got to go along and enjoy the experience of being involved with the international team and if I get the chance to play then I will do my best to impress.

"I'm sure there will be a few nerves over the next couple of days and it hasn't really sunk in yet, but I'm looking forward to this opportunity and I'm going to give it my best shot."

Jermain Defoe and Bobby Zamora are currently out injured.

Davies has made 295 appearances for the Bolton Wanderers, scoring 62 goals.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle was delighted to see Davis called up after team-mate Gary Cahill had his England debut against Bulgaria last month. Cahill is expected to play against Montenegro.

"Everyone at the club is absolutely thrilled to hear that the skipper has been called up," Coyle added.

"He has got his rewards for the high level of performances that he has produced week-in, week-out. He works exceptionally hard on a day-to-day basis and I'm sure he will give Mr Capello 100 percent."
