Germany maintained their perfect record (five out of five) and England won their much hyped match with Wales, while Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland gained on a slip by Russia in the weekend's UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying action.
The Republic of Ireland are at joint top of the Euro 2012 qualifying Group B table with 10 points along with Russia and Slovakia - thanks to early strikes from Aiden McGeady and Robbie Keane.
Netherlands won 4-0 over Hungary.
England earned an early victory over Wales at Millennium Stadium with goals from Frank Lampard and Darren Bent giving fans a 2-0 win to celebrate. The Three Lions claimed top spot in Group G but Gary Speed’s Welsh team slumped to their fourth successive defeat in the Euro 2012 qualifiers, putting them on the bottom of the group.
England, Germany, Italy, France, Netherlands, Norway, Spain Georgia, Albania, Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Greece, Montenegro, and the Republic of Ireland have one foot already in the door of the Euro 2012 finals after the weekend.

Republic of Ireland Football Team Fixtures and Results 2011
Ireland has enjoyed a successful 2010-11 campaign so far this season, and still have a strong chance of earning a place in Poland and Ukraine.
The Republic of Ireland played against Wales National Team at Aviva Stadium on February 8th - defeating Wales 3-0. Goals came from Ireland's Darron Gibson, Damien Duff and Keith Fahey.
It was the opening match in the Nations Cup - an international tournament involving the Republic of Ireland, Wales and Scotland.
Ireland manager, Giovanni Trapattoni debuted Ciaran Clark, Seamus Coleman, and Marc Wilson.
Ireland are currently two points behind the group-leading Russians and alongside Slovakia and Armenia on seven points from four games. Macedonia have four from four.
Republic of Ireland are hopeful of victory going into Saturday's match against Macedonia despite some key players out due to injury. Trapattoni is expected to continue with a 4-4-2 formation.
Trapattoni is starting Robbie Keane, Ireland team captain and one of his most experienced campaigners.
"I am confident about Robbie. He can start the game and maybe after 60 minutes, we can look at other options," said the Italian after assessing Keane in training on Tuesday.
"But we need experience in this game. We have to rely on pride and experience in this game.
"I saw Robbie in training and I am very confident of getting a good result."
Shay Given , John O’Shea, and Seamus Coleman are injured - and the Irish defence is lacking experience as teammates. Keiren Westwood makes his competitive international debut. Captain Robbie Keane and Kevin Doyle will start up front. Wigan youngster James McCarthy is expected to be on the bench, but will probably be brought into the game at some point.
