Liverpool Update - Suarez Hat-Trick Delivers 3-0 Victory v Norwich City

Liverpool FC is in eighth place in the Premier League table going into their clash v Chelsea fC in the upcoming FA Cup 2012 Final Match.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez scored a beautiful goal from 55 yards to complete a stunning hat-trick in a 3-0 Premier League victory for FC Liverpool against Norwich City at Carrow Road today.

Manager Kenny Dalglish had praise for Suarez and the rest of his men following the win.

“It is called a work in progress,” said Dalglish. “We have said that before and there is no need for us to change.

“After the Carling Cup I said we are not the finished article and we are saying the same thing now.”

“He’s a special player. It was a fantastic performance.

“Everybody knows what’s coming ahead on Saturday but the team did their jobs professionally and efficiently.”

“The players who play on Tuesday will have the same determination to get the victory,” said the Liverpool manager. “I can’t guarantee we will be as good as that but the players who play will do as well as they can.”

“Luis has been like that many times this year and not been rewarded – and it’s the same with the team.

“That third goal is not difficult to score if you’ve got Luis Suarez’s ability – it’s more difficult if you are a mere mortal.

“The clean sheet was also important for us. It gives the defenders and Pepe Reina a bit of a boost.”

Midfielder Steven Gerrard had praise for Suarez as well.

“I was just about to give him a rollicking but I ended up clapping him,” said Gerrard. “It was a fantastic individual performance by Luis. It was world class, so clinical.

“We are lucky to have him. Only certain players in the world can score goals like that third one – and he is one of them. It was about vision more than technique.”

Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool FC Manager

Liverpool Update

Liverpool are in seventh place in the England Premier League battle for silverware this campaign.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish blamed tiredness, injuries and refereeing decisions for Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat by Wigan, their fifth loss in six league games.

“Every single one of them is capable of passing to someone in the same colour shirt,” r e marked Dalglish.

“But I think the toll of three games in six days took the edge off them a little bit.

“It doesn’t matter how good you are, you still need to have a bit of bounce of the ball with some decisions.”

Carling Cup Highlights

Liverpool relied upon penalties to defeat Cardiff City in the 2012 Carling Cup final at Wembley. Joe Mason fired the Welshmen into a surprise lead, before Martin Skrtel levelled after half time. The game went to extra time and substitute Dirk Kuyt scored a winner for Liverpool, but Ben Turner scored soon afterward with just two minutes left.

Penalties followed, and it was Anthony Gerrard who missed the decisive spot kick as Liverpool defeated Cardiff 3-2 for the silverware after the shootout.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, whose cousin Anthony missed the decisive spotkick, said, “It’s always cruel when it comes to penalties, but there has to be a loser. It was always going to be that one of us was sad and one celebrating. I’ve got mixed emotions. Obviously I’m delighted to win the cup for our supporters, but I feel for Anthony and Cardiff. It doesn’t matter what I say to him – he’s going to be down. I’ll be there for him and all the family will be behind him.”

Steven Gerrard, Liverpool Captain

“It was incredible, an incredible day. I was very disappointed not to play longer than 15 minutes but I have to put that aside. I’m so happy to have scored the goal. The most important thing was we kept believing and in the end I think we deserved this trophy,” Dirk Kuyt.

Charlie Adam Targeted by FC Liverpool

    Charlie Adam

FC Liverpool are focused on adding Scotsman Charlie Adam to their 2011 squad.

Liverpool has alread paid out £20million on Jordan Henderson.

Ian Holloway's side benefitted from having Adam on their squad last season - and his left-foot is a prized attribute.

Armed with £7million cash plus a player add-on, Reds new manager Kenny Dalglish may find no resistance from the Seasiders who are now struggling financially since their relegation into the Championship.

Talks over Blackpool’s Scotland midfielder have stalled over the price - the Reds unwilling to meet the whopping £12million valuation.

However, Liverpool Director of Football Damien Comolli has introduced the prospect of player exchange during negotiations over the weekend.

Adam has only 12 months left on his contract as Blackpool are facing up to playing in the Championship League next season.

Adam was one of the PFA nominees for Players’ Player of the Year.

    Liverpool v Newcastle United

    Kenny Daglish

Kenny Dalglish was sacked by Newcastle. Newcastle United travel to Anfield to clash with Liverpool on Sunday. Superstar Andy Carroll transferred from Newcastle to Liverpool in January 2011.

Liverpool have taken 27 points from 14 games and are behind only Manchester United and Chelsea in the league. They have hired superstars Andy Carroll and Luis Suárez.

Dalglish started in early January with a 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Manchester United, lost his next match at Blackpool, and oversaw a 2-2 draw with Everton. Then the team took flight, winning 3-0 at Wolves, beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, defeating United 3-1 at Anfield, seeing off Man City 3-0 at home and drawing with Arsenal in London before belting Birmingham City 5-0.

It is not secret that Daglish wants the job permanently – but it is doubtful that he will be awarded him a long-term contract would be sensible.

If Liverpool wins all four remaining games – they will finish with one more point than they amassed last May.

Newcastle has had nine managers in the 13 years since Dalglish left – handing P45s to Sir Bobby Robson, Graeme Souness, Sam Allardyce, Kevin Keegan, Chris Hughton and Shearer.

Andy Carroll Scores Double Against Manchester City

    Andy Carroll

    Liverpool 3-0 Manchester City
    .
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish feels that Andy Carroll's two goals against Manchester City are a hint of things to come. The England striker scored his first two goals for the Reds since his January transfer £35million move from Newcastle in an impressive 3-0 win at Anfield.

His first, a scorching 25-yard drive, was an emphatic statement of his potential as he showed that he is almost fully recovered from the thigh injury he was carrying upon his move to Merseyside.

Carroll replaced Fernando Torres, following the Spaniard's £50million move to Chelsea, the 22-year-old scored after six games compared to Torres, who scored his first goal for Chelsea this weekend.

Dalglish played down the importance of Carroll managing to break his duck however, and that he always knew the goals would come once the player came back to full fitness.

"It wasn't of paramount importance he scored - we put him back in a bit earlier than we probably should have, but obviously he was medically okay," he said.

"He just needed match practice and it was going to take him a few games to get up to that.

"He scored the other night but that is not his fitness complete, and it is not his career complete at Liverpool.

"It was just a stepping stone to go forward and produce more goals for us."

Carroll's double came in only his fourth start for the club, linking up with fellow new-boy Luis Suarez.

Suarez has also played well since moving from Ajax in January - scoring two goals since his arrival.

"Sometimes it takes a little time to settle down but both Andy and Luis have been brilliant," Dalglish continued.

"Sometimes it takes a little time to settle down but both Andy and Luis have been brilliant."

"They have settled in very quickly and got on with the game. We are delighted with both of them."

Andy Carroll's Car Torched - Suspect Arrested

    Andy Carroll's Car Torched

A suspect was arrested yesterday on suspicion of setting fire to Liverpool FC star Andy Carroll’s car.

The blaze wrecked the £150,000 customized Range Rover outside Newcastle United captain Kevin Nolan’s home. The fire was so fierce it burnt off the paint and bent the alloy wheels.

Carroll, 22, had purchased the car to celebrate signing a £30,000-a-week deal with Newcastle

He moved to Liverpool in the winter transfer window for a British record of £35million.

Andy Carroll was sent to live with his club captain, Kevin Nolan, in an attempt to keep him out of trouble off the pitch.

He and Nolan looked out the window to see Carroll's new luxury Range Rover go up in flames.  The chrome-plated car, bought after Carroll recently signed a lucrative new five-year contract with the Premier League club, was badly damaged.
