Chelsea Update: Champions League Final Tickets

Roberto Di Matteo, Chelsea FC

Chelsea v Barcelona Tickets Champions League 18 Apr 2012

Interim Chelsea boss, Roberto Di Matteo said Chelsea needs to play two "perfect" games to win their Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.

Di Matteo has turned around the season for the Blues since being appointed caretaker manager just over six weeks ago, including Sunday's 5-1 FA Cup semi-final thrashing of Tottenham.

Di Matteo said they must play perfect matches on Wednesday and next Tuesday to beat the team some regard as one of the greatest of all time - Barcelonal FC.

"It's fair to say we need two perfect games," Di Matteo said. "But I think, also, that the fact we've been performing very well in the last six weeks gives us the belief we can produce two perfect games in this match."

Roberto di Matteo, Ashley Cole, Chelsea FC

Roberto di Matteo, Chelsea Manager

Leaving Lampard, Drogba and Essien out - Chelsea interim boss, Roberto Di Matteo's, decision to start Paulo Ferreira, John Obi Mikel and Salomon Kalou paid off as the Blues defeated Benfica 1-0 at the Estadio da Luz.

Chelsea has played seven games in the last 20 days.

"I'm involving everybody that is in the squad, rotating," said Italian Di Matteo.

"We'll need everybody until the end of the season. We cannot play with just 11 players. You'll see other players who have maybe played a little less in the past playing more of a role in the future."

"It's just impossible for us to play every three days and reach the fitness levels needed to win games."

"I think we've put ourselves in a good position, but it's not a result you can rely upon for the home game. It's one goal.

"You look at he results Benfica have achieved in this Champions League... you're not going to sleep very calmly looking at that."

"We are pleased that we're in a different position going into the second leg.

"We had a mountain to climb against Napoli. We still have a mountain, but it may be a little bit smaller because we've achieved a good result here."

Torres Ends Goal Drought In 5-2 FA Cup Quarter-Final Chelsea Win

Fernando Torres, Chelsea FC

Fernando Torres Ends Goal Drought In 5-2 FA Cup Quarter-Final Chelsea Win

"I thought Fernando had a terrific game, he fought very hard for the team and managed to score a couple of goals too. It's wonderful for him," said interim Chelsea boss, Roberto Di Matteo after the victory.

"I think the whole team and all the supporters are happy for him because he works so hard for the team. He is a great team player. When you work hard in life you get rewarded.

El Nino

"I didn't mind when he wasn't scoring because as long as we win that is all that matters. But hopefully his confidence is going to be very high now."

Superstar Fernando Torres ended  his five-month scoring drought with two goals in Chelsea's 5-2 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Leicester City.

Torres signed in January last year for £50m from Liverpool, but  had not scored in 24 matches.

Torres's Chelsea record now shows seven goals in 52 appearances in all competitions.

Di Matteo who replaced André Villas-Boas as Chelsea boss, may get some of the credit - with four wins in four games to his credit.

"I needed those goals," Torres said. "I'd been working so hard to get those goals and in the last month, the team is much better than before. We are more committed and we have shown in the last two or three games that we can do things in a good way. The main thing is we are making more chances than before. We have shown we can score goals and we are not conceding many."

"I think maybe this season I am playing at a very good level but I was not scoring goals in this period and the job of the striker is to score goals," he said. "So if you don't do it, the people think you are playing badly but for me, the main thing is the support of the people. They have all been with me - team-mates, the staff. I feel the confidence of the manager now and, obviously, it's a good time for me and Chelsea. I'm feeling much better.

" Today is a good day for me. And we are in the last two months of the season with more important games coming up."

Chelsea's Fernando Torres Named to Spain v Scotland Squad

Fernando Torres Named to Spain Squad

Torres has made the Spain National squad for the coming clashes with the Czech Republic and Scotland.

Fernando Torres has been told by Spain National Team coach Vicente del Bosque that he will lose his place unless he starts scoring regularly for Chelsea FC.

Torres was not on the squad for last month's 6-0 thrashing of Liechtenstein, which won Spain's Euro 2012 slot.

Del Bosque said, "We still have faith in him but have others behind him pushing hard for a place. We have to try and be fair. Some think we are not."

Torres' Chelsea place is threatened by Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Romelu Lukaku.

"My brother was a keeper and I used to enjoy playing with him in the street. One day the ball knocked my front teeth out and my mum wouldn't let me play in goal anymore," Torres states  in the November 2011 issue of FourFourTwo , out now.

"I still enjoy going between the sticks in training and when we're allowed to choose our own positions that's often where I head. I like people shooting at me and trying to stop as many as I can."

FC Chelsea Update - Tickets

Florent Malouda

Chelsea's Florent Malouda Feels A Difference With Villas-Boas at the Helm

Frenchman, Florent Malouda believes the team need more time to adjust the management of new Chelsea boss Andrea Villas-Boas.

The Chelsea winger has already noticed an improvement over last year and believes the club are starting to rediscover their winning mentality.

“We are not in our best form yet so we need these games, even if it is different conditions from what we are used to or for us to be at our best.

“I can feel the difference from last year, when we lost almost all of our friendlies, and this year we are improving, so that’s a good sign! What we’re trying to get is that winning mentality and we have to work in the friendlies to be ready for the season.

“We are not gelling yet, because we have had a lot of training sessions mixed with the games, so let’s say we take these games as additional training sessions and the further we go in pre-season the better we will play and the more normal the games and performances will seem.”

Andre Vilas-Boas New Chelsea Manager

Andre Vilas-Boas, Chelsea Manager

Chelsea Football Club has announced that Andre Villas-Boas will be the club’s new manager. Villas-Boas has signed a three-year contract and will start work immediately.

Andre was the outstanding candidate for the job. He is one of the most talented young managers in football today and has already achieved much in a relatively short space of time. His ambition, drive and determination matches that of Chelsea and we are confident Andre’s leadership of the team will result in greater successes in major domestic and European competitions.

Andre will bring his coaching experience back to a club he is already very familiar with, having previously worked here for three years. He has always been highly regarded at Chelsea and everyone here looks forward to welcoming him back and working with him.

Villas-Boas has no football playing experience yet became the youngest manager to win a European club title—Europea League with Porto in 2010-11.

Andre Vilas- Boas cost Chelsea a whopping £13.3 million, which is a big-money signing.

His brand of football has a focus mainly on attack together with a tight defence, part of the reason why he won the Portuguese league without losing a single game.
