Andy Carroll Ends Goal Drought
Andy Carroll has ended his goal drought with a stunning shot as Liverpool defeated Wolves 2-0. Carroll scored the match's opening goal - it was his first league goal since October.
Liverpool FC manager King Kenny Dalglish has denied Manchester City's claims that the Merseyside outfit attempted a swap deal between strikers Andy Carroll and Carlos Tevez.

Dalglish is unhappy after City revealed the potential exchange and has reiterated that Liverpool will have no players coming in or out of Anfield before the end of the transfer window.

“We’re not going to get involved in justifying what people are saying – we don’t have to. Get City to justify it, not us," said Dalglish.

“We’re not talking about any specific incident, but if you are going to do business in any way shape or form, no matter what life you are in, you don’t need to disclose it until it’s done.

Dalglish insisted that Carroll is perfectly happy at the club and would not be leaving.
“Nothing is happening at all and we don’t anticipate it to either. Last year was a bit manic but there’ll be nothing this time,” he said.
“There’s no need for us to pass comment on anything that’s been speculative in any way shape or form. We’ve said what’s going to happen, and that’s nothing. It’s quiet.
“We don’t have any problems with any of the players, because they are all going nowhere.”
“Andy has said he is very happy here and doesn’t regret coming. That’s the best reference you can get, but for some reason the focus always seems to be on the big fella.”
Liverpool enjoyed a dramatic 2-1 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup. Reds striker Luis Suarez is serving the final match of his ban for allegedly racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

King's Cup Trophy
Reportedly, Spain’s most treasured football trophy, the King’s Cup, slipped from the hands of Sergio Ramos, fell under the team bus and was crushed into pieces.
Real Madrid defender Ramos held the 15-kilo (33-pound) trophy above his head in an open-top bus as the triumphant team were about to enter Madrid’s central Cibeles Square, packed with fans partying throughout the night.
But he lost his grip and the Cup, which Real Madrid got their hands on just hours earlier for the first time since 1993 after a 1-0 victory over Barcelona, fell in front of the bus.
The team bus then ran over the silver trophy before stopping.
Police rushed to retrieve the Cup and gave it to the bus driver but it was not displayed to the public again.
Emergency services workers picked up at least 10 pieces of the trophy, news radio Cadena Ser reported. “It fell, it fell, it’s fine, it’s fine,” said Ramos.

Oba Martins and Nikola Zigic Celebrate
A horrendous error from Arsenal's Wojciech Szczesny allowed Obafemi Martins to win the Carling Cup for Birmingham
Birmingham City have won their first major trophy since 1963. Alex McLeish's side were even in the 89th minute when Laurent Koscielny distracted his goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny by seeming ready to kick away a long ball. Birmingham substitute Obafemi Martins shot in the winner with ease.
“This is the easiest goal I scored in my career and this was very important,” said Martins “We’re very happy.”
Arsenal remains in the hunt for three trophies. The Gunners sit four points behind first-place Manchester United in the Premier League, lead Barcelona 2-1 after the opening match in the Champions League round of 16, and will play United in the F.A. Cup quarterfinals. Arsenal hopes for its first trophy since the F.A. Cup in 2005.
Birmingham will now play in European soccer’s Europa League next season - and are on course for a trophy double this season, with an F.A. Cup quarterfinal against Bolton next month.
Nikola Zigic put the Blues ahead after 28 minutes at Wembley Stadium and Robin van Persie equalized for the Gunners on 39 minutes. Martins then secured Birmingham’s victory in the 89th minute, knocking the ball in from close range after a defensive blunder, before celebrating with his trademark somersault.
“We weren’t given a prayer by the pundits and the bookies,” Birmingham manager Alex McLeish said.
"It's an achievement when you consider who we were up against. We weren't given a prayer by the pundits and the bookies but we believed today. It was a titanic performance by the players. We had a gameplan and managed to get our noses in front, that gives you a great chance.
"We thought if we could keep in it for as long as we could we'd get the quick guys on who can win it for us (Martins and Cameron Jerome). We didn't deal with the equaliser well. Roger Johnson could have let it run out for a throw-in but he kept it in play. Too many of us were out of position and Robin van Persie's movement for the goal was magnificent.
"But no doubt you need a little bit of luck - and we deserved it today.''
Blues goalkeeper Ben Foster remarked.
"We said all week it's 90 minutes of football and anything can happen,'' he told BBC1. "That's why we all love football so much.
"The main thing was that the lads kept fighting. You could see how tired we were but we just kept working and working. That's the spirit we've got.''
On the goal, he added: "Thank God it fell to Oba. He doesn't miss from there. I think I could have scored that.''
