2013 Best Player in Europe Award - Messi, Ribéry and Ronaldo Named to Best Player 

The winner will be named today.

The first round of voting for the 2012-13 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award produced a long list of 26 players, initially whittled down to ten, later three and finally, on 29 August, the chosen one.

Players nominated from the England Premier League were, Gareth Bale (WAL) – Tottenham Hotspur FC, Edin Džeko (BIH) – Manchester City FC, Branislav Ivanović (SRB) – Chelsea FC, Robin van Persie (NED) – Manchester United FC.

Ribery led Bayern Munich to a stunning treble victory. France international Ribery played a key role for the Bayern Munich side which became the first German club to win the treble of Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.

Superstar Real Madrid striker Ronaldo has signed a new deal with Real Madrid and is now the highest paid footballer in Europe. Portugal ace CR7 netted 34 league goals for Real Madrid last season and finished up top goal scorer in the Champions League with 12 goals.

The trio won in a poll of journalists from each of UEFA's member national associations.

The overall winner will be announced in a live vote during the Champions League group stage draw in Monaco on August 29.

Last year's 2011-12 winner was Andres Iniesta. And his Barcelona team-mate Messi lifted the inaugural award for the 2010-11 season.

Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is fourth, and Bayern team-mates Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller fifth and sixth.

Tottenham's Gareth Bale is seventh, Bastian Schweinsteiger of Bayern is eighth and Paris St Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie occupy ninth and 10th.

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi had a lawsuit filed against him for tax evasion.

The 25-year-old Argentine striker, along with his father, Jorge Horacio Messi, are both accused of three offenses for allegedly defrauding over €4million in income tax returns in 2007-09.

The trial will be held at the courthouse in Gava, home to the €11 million a-year Barca striker.

Messi recently played for his national team in Quito, where Argentina was held to 1-1 by Ecuador in a qualifying match for the World Cup.

The LFP has announced a change to the time and date of the clash between the Catalan and Andalusian sides.

The Barça v Malaga match on the final day of La Liga 2012 - 2013 will be played at 19.00 in the Camp Nou.

The match will be played two hours before the originally scheduled time. The other game that has been brought forward is Real Madrid v Osasuna, which will start at 17.00. Most of the weekend’s matches, in which clubs are involved in the La Liga battle for Champions League qualification or survival, will start at 21.00.

Earlier this season, Barça beat Malaga 3-1.
