David Beckham Training With the Spurs Until February 22nd

David Beckham Will Train Two More Weeks With the Spurs

Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Beckham has been training with the Spurs since January. Spurs manager Harry Redknapp initially tried to sign Beckham who has been with the club during the MLS off-season in order to keep in shape and was expected to return tomorrow. The two clubs could not come to an agreement regarding terms and insurance for Beckham.

Tottenham Manager Harry Redknapp said Beckham would be an asset to the Spurs and he could try to sign Beckham after his LA Galaxy contract expires in November of this year.

Beckham has only played in 57 of a possible 115 regular-season and playoff games for Los Angeles during the first four years of his five-year contract with MLS. During that time, Beckham played 55 games for England and on loan with AC Milan. He also ruptured his left Achilles' tendon while playing with AC Milan and missed most of the 2010 MLS season.

Galaxy opened training camp last week.

Tottenham Hotspur Loves David Beckham

David Beckham Trains With Tottenham Hotspur - Winter 2011

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has hinted he may try to sign England international David Beckham when his LA Galaxy contract expires.

Former England captain, Beckham has been training with the Spurs, but for the time being, Spurs and Galaxy have been unable to agree a short-term loan deal.

According to Redknapp, midfielder Beckham is fit and looking like Spurs material.

When asked about the potential of Beckham joining the Spurs, Redknapp said: "I could do, yeah. I love him, I love the way he plays. That ball that Van der Vaart hit for Crouchy, David hit about seven of them the other morning in training.

"It was like he had radar and Crouchy kept heading them in the goal. I kept saying 'That's what I have been asking you to do lads'.

"David has been fantastic. He is a top-class bloke. He has been great around the place. You would love to have him at your club."

Redknapp remarked on Beckham’s determination and work ethic during his time with the Spurs. "I think David will go back on the ninth (of February). I would like to have had him playing as he has looked great in training.

"He is so slim and so fit, he is a fanatical trainer. He works in the morning and the afternoon in the gym. He just loves playing football.

"He could be at home now sitting around the pool. I am sure he has a decent enough semi in Los Angeles but he is over here wanting to play football. Most footballers would want to be in Los Angeles.

"But that is what has made him what he is. He wants to keep playing and he is a mega rich man. He just loves the game."
