FIFA Ballon d’Or Candidate – Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United
Former Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson is one of 10 football managers named by FIFA’s Football Committee and a group of experts from France Football as top contenders for the 2014 FIFA Ballon d’Or Award. The three names with the most votes will be announced in early December, with the winner due to be crowned in January.
Jupp Heynckes is favored to win the accolade having guided his former club, Bayern Munich, to their treble-winning campaign in 2013.
Premier League managers Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger and the recently departed Rafael Benitez are also on the shortlist. Former Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova was not on the list despite the Catalan’s La Liga triumph last season.

Man Utd Guard of Honor for Champions : Arsenal v Manchester United

Wenger has confirmed that his team will give 2012-13 Barclays Premier League champions Manchester United a guard of honor before the match at Emirates Stadium. United gave Arsenal a similar service in May 1991. Wenger's title-winning side were also granted a guard of honor by Liverpool at Anfield in May 1998.
Sunday’s match will mark the first time that United's Robin van Persie, the former Arsenal forward, will return to the club where he played before being sold last summer. Wenger has called upon his club's fans to treat the new champions and the Dutchman with respect.
"First of all I am French and work in England and I want the English tradition to be respected," said Wenger. "When you work somewhere abroad, you have to respect the culture of the country. That is part of the tradition of English football and I want that of course to be respected.
"I hope, yes, that it will happen to us next year. But we are guided by the fact that we want to win our last four games and that is the next one. We know it is a difficult hurdle for us. Will it add something to our motivation? I don’t know.
"We respect Robin van Persie like every other player who has left and comes back. I want the player to be respected. He is a massive talent with world-class technique and huge experience with the national team and in the Champions League. I had no doubt he'd adapt.
"Arsenal had a positive impact on the life and career of Robin van Persie. You always miss a big player but now we are stabilised. We are on a very strong run. We have a good level of confidence and a great desire."

Sir Alex Ferguson, Managerial Awards and Honors
Going into the second-half of the 2011-2012 season, Manchester United is in second place just two points behind Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. Winning the league trophy would be another cap in the excellent career of Sir Alex Ferguson, Man Utd boss.
On 5 November 2011, the Old Trafford North Stand was officially renamed the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand in honour of his 25 years as manager of Manchester United. He has won 48 trophies as a manager, making him the most successful British football manager in history.
Sir Alex Ferguson was made an Inaugural Inductee of the English Football Hall of Fame in 2002 in recognition of his impact on the English game as a manager. In 2003, Ferguson became an inaugural recipient of the FA Coaching Diploma, awarded to all coaches who had at least 10 years’ experience of being a manager or head coach.
Sir Alex is the Vice-President of the National Football Museum, and a member of the Executive Committee of the League Managers Association.
Fergie is the only manager to win the top league honours, and the ‘Double’, North and South of the England–Scotland border – winning the Premier League with Manchester United, and the Scottish Premier Division with Aberdeen, and the last manager to win the Scottish championship with a non Old Firm team in the 1984–85 season with Aberdeen.
Ferguson is the only manager in English football to have managed to finish in the top three league places in 20 consecutive seasons, since the 1991–92 season.
