Sergio Aguero injured in Amsterdam car crash

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said he had "no problem" with his twenty-nine-year-old top goal-scorer Sergio Aguero being in Amsterdam after confirming that the striker suffered a broken rib in a car accident on Thursday. The Argentine was in a taxi on his way to the airport after watching singer Maluma when the accident happened.

"He had a day off. He's OK - the most important thing," said Guardiola.

"It was a very heavy slam but seatbelts prevented it from being worse," tweeted Kun. "Thank you with all my heart for the supportive messages, they really do help me in recovering. The taxi I was riding made a wrong turn and crashed against a pole."

The Spanish manager said he did not know how long Aguero would be sidelined for, and added that he only discovered his striker was in the Netherlands early on Friday. The accident happened in the De Boelelaan area of Amsterdam.

"I think days off are to be happy. I want the players to be happy. Always I am a manager who doesn't like to train every day,” added Guardiola. "I think the players have to rest mentally and physically. They can enjoy their lives. I want my players to have fun. If they decide to go there, they decide to go there. It is OK for me."

"I've broken a rib. Now I'm resting but it's really painful," said Aguero.

Sergio “Kun” Aguero has scored seven goals in eight appearances for Manchester City this season and is key to Pep Guardiola's side reaching the top of the Premier League Table and to winning their first two Champions League group matches.

The international break follows City's upcoming match against Chelsea.

Aguero was named in Argentina's squad for their final two World Cup qualifiers against Peru (5 October) and Ecuador (10 October). Argentina are fifth in the South American section standings.

Paul Pogba out with injury

Manchester United’s Paul Pogba has a hamstring injury that will keep the Red Devil’s French star midfielder out “long term” according to Man United boss Jose Mourinho. Twenty-four-year-old Pogba limped off only 19 minutes into United’s Champions League victory against Basel and since has missed the past four games at Old Trafford. Initially it was thought that Pogba would be out for between a month and six weeks due to his injury on 12 September. Portuguese Reds boss Mourinho would not however give a specific timescale on his return.

Mouinho said he "does not speak about long-term injuries" but was more hopeful regarding the fitness of his defenders Phil Jones and Antonio Valencia."I cannot have hope, like with Jones or Valencia who I can see in training and hope for a positive answer," added the Portuguese.

Pogba's fellow midfielders Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini also will miss Saturday's home game against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Manchester United’s celebrity Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is nearing his comeback to United after being out with injury due to tearing his anterior cruciate ligament against Anderlecht in April in the Europa League. Ibrahimovic's doctor warned the striker not to rush his Manchester United comeback.

Ibrahimovic’s Dr Freddie Fu, the specialist who operated on him, says the popular striker should have as much recovery time as possible.

"He is very strong but soccer is still a combative sport," said Fu. "As a doctor, of course I want to see him return as slow as possible, only when he is fully fit for the game. There have been many cases of a player returning prematurely with bad consequences. I have no worry about his injury as it always takes time to fully recover. In fact, the EPL has just started and I am sure Manchester United would not need the player urgently for any crucial game either in the league or European competitions."

Ibra was United's top scorer with 28 goals last season. His one-year contract ended in the summer, however he signed a new one-year contract while recovering from his serious knee injury. Ibrahimovic has been included in Manchester United's Champions League group stage squad. No has been given for Ibra’s comeback.

Dele Alli

Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder Dele Alli has been banned for one international match after his middle-finger gesture during the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia. The popular twenty-one year-old Alli was also fined 5,000 Swiss francs (£3,852) by Fifa, who says the incident on 4 September was "offensive and unsporting".

Alli will miss Thursday's World Cup qualifier at home to Slovenia, but will be available for England’s upcoming game against Lithuania on Sunday.

Alli said his gesture was aimed at former Spurs team-mate Kyle Walker during the 77th minute of the 2-1 win in Group F after Alli was body-checked by Slovakia defender Martin Skrtel, and referee Clement Turpin waved play on. It was initially thought that Alli gestured towards Turpin, with whom he also had words when he was substituted in the 93rd minute.

"Although the disciplinary committee was not convinced that the player directed the gesture at the referee, and regardless of whether it was allegedly directed at a team-mate, it did consider such gesture to be offensive and unsporting. Therefore it amounted to a violation of article 57 of the Fifa disciplinary code", said a Fifa statement.

Chelsea v Manchester City

Eden Hazard is expected to start in the England Premier League for the first time this season when Chelsea host Manchester City at home on September 30. Chelsea defender David Luiz completed his three-match domestic suspension for his dismissal against Arsenal. Midfielder Danny Drinkwater calf injury is the only definite injury absentee.

Chelsea’s provisional squad against Manchester City for the match is Courtois, Caballero, Rudiger, Alonso, Fabregas, Kante, Morata, Hazard, Pedro, Bakayoko, Moses, Kenedy, Musonda, Zappacosta, Willian, Batshuayi, Cahill, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Clarke-Salter, Scott, Eduardo.

Manchester City will be without star striker Sergio Aguero for Saturday's trip to west London after the forward suffered rib injuries in a car crash on Thursday. Left-back Benjamin Mendy is a long-term casualty after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament in last week's 5-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace. City's Captain Vincent Kompany has missed the last six games and remains on the sidelines with a calf injury.

Man City’s provisional squad includes Ederson, Bravo, Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Mangala, Danilo, Delph, Toure, Gundogan, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Sterling, Sane, D Silva, B Silva, Foden, Diaz, Jesus.

Manchester City 6-0 Tottenham Hotspur

Superstar Sergio Aguero scored twice in the match to reach 10 Premier League goals for the season. Aguero was named "man of the match".

City continued their superb home form with their surprising destruction of Tottenham - but they are only in fourth on the Premier League table since they have only one victory away to their credit.

After the clash, Man City full-back Pablo Zabaleta talked about his opinion of why his club was not higher on the EPL table.

"We have 22 points, that is six behind Arsenal. We should have more than that. "Even though we have not played that well away from home, we should have maybe two or three more points that we lost in crucial away games," said Zabaleta. "Mistakes have cost us points. Sometimes, when you cannot win, it is important not to lose.

"We know at the moment we are playing very well at home. It is important to play with the same attitude and ambition away from home," he added. "We know we have dropped so many points in away games, that is bad for the team.

"But there is still a long way to go and hopefully our performances away from home will improve."

"We know the quality we have in the front players, they can score at any time in the game. "That is why we always talk about how important it is to keep clean sheets. If we do that, we know we are going to score some goals.

"Obviously, you don't expect to win 6-0 against a very strong team like Tottenham. Sometimes it happens and, on this occasion, we deserved it."

After EPL Matchweek 12, Premiership top goal scorers to date are Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool) and Luis Suarez (Liverpool) nine goals; Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) and Loic Remy (Newcastle United) with eight goals; Robin van Persie (Manchester United), Oliver Giroud (Arsenal), and Romelu Lukaku (Everton) with seven goals; Aaron Ramsey with six goals; Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Yaya Toure (Manchester City), and Oscar (Chelsea) with five goals.

Superstar Man City striker Kun Aguero has musical talent as well as being one of the EPL's top goal scorers.

One of Kun's favorite cumbia bands called Los Leales recorded a song titled “El Kun Aguero.”

Cumbia is a Latin American style of music that originated in Colombia’s Caribbean coastal region. It has its origins in the 1920’s but reached its peak in the 50’s.

When asked to explain his nickname, Sergio Aguero told BBC Sport:

“Kun actually represents a Japanese cartoon character from my favourite series that I used to watch as a child,” said Aguero. “I coined the nickname Kun because of my resemblance to the character, which was actually named Kum Kum."

“My grandparents were the first ones who gave me the name. I think my nickname is different in comparison to most athletes and so I have grown to appreciate it because it's unique. It's not every day an athlete is nicknamed after a cartoon character!”
