CR7 scored 69 goals in 59 matches over the calendar year in 2013. The Portugal captain has now scored 400 goals in 653 games in all competitions - taking his season's tally to 28 and boosting his chances for the Ballon d'Or 2014 award.

Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 400th career goal in Real Madrid's 3-0 victory over Spanish La Lga's rivals Celta Vigo in the La Liga, reducing the gap on league leaders Barcelona.

In the final seconds of the clash against Celta Viga, Ronaldo scored after being put through by Gareth Bale, a 65th minute substitute.

Real is now five points adrift of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in third.

R Madrid's manager Jose Mourinho's next big targets are the Champions League quarter-finals scheduled for April 2 and 3 and the Copa del Rey Final.

Iker Casillas hopes to be back in two weeks as No 1 goalkeeper recently saying that he is near "the end of the tunnel" of his recovery from a broken bone in his left hand that required surgery. His recovery from the operation, in which two screws were inserted into his hand, has gone quicker than expected - and he could be ready to face Real Zaragoza away in La Liga on March 30.

In January, Jose Mourinho signed Diego Lopez from Sevilla for €3 million. He was outstanding in Madrid's Champions League win at Manchester United.

Casillas has been training and saving shots with his left hand.

"Thanks for all the messages of support that you have been sending me during these weeks," said Iker. "The end of the tunnel is near."

Casillas is not expected to be named in Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque's squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Finland in Gijon on March 22 and France[in Paris on March 26th.

With Cristiano Ronaldo, the world's second highest goal-scorer on board, Real Madrid are fighting for Champions League, Copa del Rey and Spanish La Liga trophies this campaign.

A child football star from Portugal, Ronaldo signed for Sporting Lisbon in 2001-03. In 2003, Manchester United paid £12.24 million in a deal to hire Ronaldo. CR7 made his international debut on 20 August 2003 against Kazakhstan and has since become the captain of the Portugal National Team, who he led in the 2010 World Cup. Ronaldo transferred to Real Madrid in 2009. Reportedly Ronaldo is ready to move on when the right offer comes along.

However, Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes advised CR7 to stay at Bernabeu for another season.

Ronaldo was overwhelmed by the warm welcome he received by Man United's squad and fans during his side’s Champions League clash with the Premier League leaders.

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has also been linked to Manchester United when Sir Alex Ferguson retires.

Champions League Round of 16 - Real Madrid 1 - 1 Manchester United

In the first half, Man United's Danny Welbeck netted a goal to open the scoring with a great header from Wayne Rooney's left-wing corner. Then not too surprisingly, former United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo equalised with an absolutely amazing header for the Spanish giants who will meet again in the second leg at Old Trafford on March 5th.

United left the Bernabéu with what may prove to be a vital away goal, having drawn 1-1 after Danny Welbeck's first-half opener was cancelled out by Cristiano Ronaldo's header before the interval.

Yet Mourinho is confident. Madrid's coach, reflecting on a cautious approach from the visiting team, said: "I won't criticise what they did – they got the result they wanted. We can score at Old Trafford. Many teams have done so at Old Trafford and no team with our attacking quality has played there."

"I am not surprised by the result or the match. It was what I expected. It is open, very open, for the second leg. I think it will go down to the final minute. For them it was very tactical, but not for us. They changed the way they play, I think, to have 11 men behind the ball and they did not put a foot in our half in the second half. They were just waiting for a set piece or a counter-attack," said Jose Mourinho.

"They defended well. The result leaves it open and if you ask me for a percentage, I will say, like I said before, it is 50-50. They don't have an advantage from their away goal, we can score more than one goal in the second leg."

"They had two big chances in the second half, but that is out of context as we were chasing the game and they were sitting back and waiting. They did it well. I think my players gave everything. It was difficult as we started strongly, we had a big chance when we hit the post, and then the first time they go into our half they score from nothing, and that is a difficult situation for the players."

"Now it is time to go to Old Trafford. One-all is not a bad result and we can score more than one goal there," continued Mourinho. "I like to play the first game at home because when you play the first game away you can have a tendency to be unhappy with certain scores. When you play the second game away you know how you need to approach the game without thinking too much. When we get to Old Trafford we know what we need to do. We need to score, and if we score we'll be ahead. It is very easy to understand. We could have scored more goals, we could have won, but they could have won as well. At the end of the day, this is the score."

Cristiano Ronaldo

"We are happy, and see you in three weeks.:

Champions League Update - Valencia v Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain's hopes of winning a first French crown since 1994 and thereby giving David Beckham's upcoming time in the City of Light an exciting turn were boosted on Sunday when their nearest rivals Lyon dropped points.

PSG has their hopes for the League 1 title boosted after Lyon fell in a 3-1 home loss to mid-table Lille and third-placed Marseille, the 2010 champions, earned a 1-1 draw at Evian after finishing with nine men.

Former England captain David Beckham is joining his Paris Saint-Germain teammates for the Champions League game at Valencia on Tuesday, but will play no part in the last-16, first-leg tie, coach Carlo Ancelotti stated on Monday.

'Beckham will come tomorrow to watch the match,' said Ancelotti.

Since joining the club on the eve of the transfer deadline, Beckham has been training in London with PSG coaching staff.

While he will play no part in the Champions League tie, he is set to participate in his first full training session with the club on Wednesday, in Paris, and could play in the league match against Sochaux on Sunday.
