Euro 2012 Qualifying Results

To date, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands have maximum points in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying.

Fifty one teams began the journey to Poland and Ukraine last summer. Title holders and world champions Spain have maximum points along with Germany and the Netherlands. Russia and Norway have also made perfect starts. Montenegro had an impressive debut campaign.

The qualifying results are below - group standings will largely stay unchanged until late March – lots of great matches ahead in 2011.

Tickets will be sold in March for 31 matches, including the opening game in Warsaw on June 8th and the final on July 1 in Kyiv. Euro 2012 opening ceremony, and the semi-final match to be played at National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland. National Stadium can hold more then 50000 football fans. Other match-ups will be played in Poznan, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Lvov, Donetsk and Kharkiv. Euro 2012 final will be held in Kiev in Ukraine. The Olympic Stadium can hold about 77,000 fans.

Community Shield Competition Fierce at the Top

Competition is intense in the fight to play for the FA Community Shield (formerly the Charity Shield) – an exciting annual match between the Premier League Champions and the FA Cup winners at Wembley Stadium in London.

Manchester City defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers winning 4-3 moving briefly into first place in English soccer’s Premier League. Carlos Tevez scored two goals as City went one point ahead of rival Manchester United in the Premiership standings.

Arsenal defeated West Ham 3-0, Chelsea beat Blackburn 2-0, West Brom defeated Blackpool 3-2, Stoke beat Bolton 2-0 and Wigan drew 1-1 with Fulham.

Currently, Manchester United (1), Manchester City (2), Arsenal (3), Chelsea (4), and Spurs (5) are on top of the Premier League.

Spain are on top followed by World Cup finalists Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, England, Uruguay, Portugal, Croatia, and Egypt in the fight for the FA Cup Championship.

Spain on top in Janurary 2011

In this month's World Fifa Rankings World Cup winners Spain are still at the top of the rankings followed by The Netherlands, World and European champions Spain maintained first place in an all but unchanged top 10 of the global football rankings issued on Wednesday by the ruling body FIFA.

Spain lead the way with 1,887 points from World Cup finalists Netherlands (1,723) and Germany (1,485).

Brazil (1,446), Argentina (1,338), England (1,195), Uruguay (1,152), Portugal (1,090), Croatia (1,075) and Egypt (1,036) complete the top 10 in which only Croatia and Egypt swapped places.

Update - Chelsea’s clash with Manchester United scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed due to adverse weather. Heavy snow has been falling all day and the match officials decided to cancel the game determining it would be too dangerous for fans and players.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City are on top of the Premier League - all still have a good chance to win the Premiership this season.

Dortmund tops the league in Germany.

In Italy Lazio Roma is surprising the Italians topping the league, closely followed by AC Milan.

In the Netherlands, Twente and PSV top the league.

In Spain, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are fighting for the title.
