Manchester City 5-1 Huddlesfield Town

Manchester City goes through to 2017 FA Cup Quarter Finals

Man City's Sergio Aguero responded to his boss Pep Guardiola’s  demands against Huddersfield.  Manchester City superstar striker Aguero scored two goals to help his Manchester City side beat Huddersfield Town 5-1 to qualify for the FA Cup quarter finals.

Argentine striker Aguero wants to succeed playing football the Pep Guardiola way. Aguero scored twice and gave a stellar overall display in Manchester City's 5-1 thumping of Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round replay. Gabriel Jesus' arrival at the Blues sparked speculation about Aguero's future at City, with the young Brazilian starting ahead of him in the central striker role. But Jesus was taken out with injury and Kun was re-added to the starting line-up. Aguero seized his chance and scored four goals in his last two games. Speaking to the press after the FA Cup game, the popular 28-year-old said that his performance was “simply a result of carrying out his manager's instructions”.

"I am very happy for the result, for the two goals, but especially to get through to the next round,” said Aguero, “I only tried to do my best and what the manager asked me to do. Basically I try and help the team and try to make Guardiola happy with my performances."

The Argentine was Manchester City's best player in the 2015 season, scoring 26 goals and laying on eight assists in the Premier League. Aguero won the Golden Boot and was crowned the Premier League's top goal scorer after finishing the season with 26. Sadly though for the Blues, they lost their Premier League trophy to Chelsea. Aguero started 32 of City's 38 Premier League games, and scored at a rate of 0.79 goals per game. Kun's goal tally was five better than Harry Kane's, who finished the season on 21 after scoring the winner against Everton.

EPL CUP: MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 MANCHESTER CITY

Juan Mata scores, Man United v Man City - EFL Cup Fourth Round

EPL CUP: MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 MANCHESTER CITY

Man United fans delighted with League Cup victory against Man City

Juan Mata scores fourth-round opener and match winner from Zlatan Ibrahimovic's pullback to sent Manchester United to the EPL Cup Quarter-Finals. Ibra held off Otamendi in an aerial battle then squared for Mata to sidefoot home from eight yards out in the games only goal, final score 1-0.

Manchester United redeemed themselves after their loss to Chelsea, playing uptempo and with passion in their defeat of cross-town rivals and noisy neighbors Manchester City.

“It was nice to score but the most important thing was to put the last defeat behind us,” said Mata. “We had a bad day in London at Chelsea and we knew we had to be strong and give 100% in this game.  You are going to get criticism if you play for Manchester United and things are not going well. That’s professional football, and you have to learn to deal with it. After a defeat, everyone is going to speak bad about the team and about the manager. We as a group need to stay strong and believe we can do great things together.”

This was the fifth League Cup meeting between the sides. The previous four EPL Cup clashes were all exciting and memorable. Fans showed up at Old Trafford expecting some feistiness in the massive Manchester Derby. Both managers hoped for needed a win – Pep Guardiola now has not had a win in his last six matches.  José Mourinho and his side were delighted with the 1-0 victory after everything going wrong in the Red Devils’ 0-0 draw at Liverpool and recent 4-0 shellacking against Chelsea.

Jose Mourniho’s Man Utd side and Pep Guardiola’s Man City side faced off again at Old Trafford in a massive Manchester Derby on Wednesday. The Red Devils won the clash 1-0 knocking out City thanks to Juan Mata's 54' min goal to the delight of the passionate Man United fans.

I’m happy. The players they did everything, said Jose Mourinho after the game. “Last week everything went against us, obviously it hurts but we are professionals. We felt deeply such a negative result and today was a chance to clean away that feeling a little bit because it’s a derby and a knockout. To win against Man City I think gives everyone a better feeling and I’m happy for the players and especially for the fans.

Six weeks after Manchester City’s 2-1 Premier League win against Manchester United at Old Trafford, United got revenge as Mourinho’s decision to play a virtually full-strength side was a good one. Spaniard Juan Mata fired home from 10 meters in the 54th minute ffrom a lay-off by Zlatan Ibrahimovic. As a result, City is winless in six games under Spanish manager Pep Guardiola, the worst run of his distinguished coaching career. Guardiola rested most of his key players.

Carlos Tevez Future Still In the Air

Carlos Tevez

On again, off again.

Corinthians revealed that they are unable to make the first payment on time.

Corinthians now say they are in no position to make an up-front payment, and with the transfer window in Brazil closing on Wednesday, the club have made a statement on their official website suggesting the Argentine will have to remain with City until at least next January.

"The board of Sporting Club Corinthians hereby officially announce the impossibility of hiring the Argentine striker Carlos Tevez," the statement said.

"While acknowledging the efforts of Manchester City and all involved in the negotiation, more time is needed for the transfer to be achieved, given that the window to sign players from abroad closes on Wednesday, July 20.

"There is no more sufficient time for the transfer to go through. We are aware our fans wanted Tevez to join our club again and we hope we can have the player with us in the future."

It is understood City requested Corinthians make their first payment before the transfer is completed, instead of early in 2012 as stated in the Sao Paulo club's original offer, forcing negotiations to stall.

With the deal dead, Tevez's agent Kia Joorabchian said that the player would now take a holiday but would "respect" City if he fails to secure a move away from the club this summer.

"He's still a City player and he will respect that. We will keep it like that until there's something else concrete on the table.'' Joorabchian told Sky Sports News.

"There was a concrete offer on the table, and it was very close to being negotiated and agreed, but unfortunately it didn't go through. There's not really any speculation from our standpoint (on what happens next)."

Since Corinthians announced that the deal was off, City have indicated it was due to the lack of a bank guarantee, with concerns over how the Brazilian club would fund a deal worth four times their previous transfer record.

Joorabchian dismissed that notion, claiming FIFA rules provided enough security for City.

"It had nothing to do with proof of funds,'' he said. "Obviously there will be active people at City that might try to put some sort of spin on it, but I don't think the top management really believe it. They are both FIFA clubs, both FIFA members, and it would be almost impossible for Corinthians not to pay.

"They are the largest club in Brazil. There would not be any issue with it. It is almost like Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester United not paying. They are the largest club in South America and with that kind of revenue, I don't think that would be an issue."

City appear keen to sign Tevez's Argentina team-mate Sergio Aguero regardless of the collapse of the deal, but Joorabchian struck down a suggestion that another ambitious signing would make Tevez change his mind about staying with City.

"Carlos' future has got nothing to do with other players,'' he said. "He is an individual who bases himself around his own happiness and I don't think it will be anything to do with anyone joining that changes Carlos' mind.''
