David Beckham Update

Sir Alex Ferguson was David Beckham's manager for most of his Premiership career before moving to Real Madrid. Fergie said Beckham may have lost focus following his marriage to Posh, "the girl from the Spice Girls,".

David Beckham became England's most-capped outfield player before the midfielder's departure from Old Trafford in 2003. Beckham won one La Liga title in four years in Madrid before moving to the United States for a new chapter in his career.

In an interview with PBS, Sir Alex Ferguson said Beckham was subject to a change in "celebrity status" after marrying.

"As a young kid when I got him at 12 years of age his great desire was [to play] some of the best football," Ferguson said in a transcript of the PBS interview published by The Times.

"He was a fantastic trainer, practiced all the time. At nighttime he would come by with the schoolboys and practice with them. And he was in that collection. And then of course, his life changed, when he married the girl from The Spice Girls, yeah. And his focus changed.

"He got drawn into the - that celebrity status, you know? And for me, I'm a football man. I'm a football man. He lost the focus. And when we sold him to Real Madrid, he did well."

"I couldn't believe that he goes to LA Galaxy. I couldn't believe that. I couldn't understand that. I would never do that, you know? If I was going to go, I would be making sure he would go to the best, and Real Madrid was the best, I would say, and United."But he reinvented himself. He goes and plays for the English national team for a couple more years. He goes and plays for AC Milan [in the] European Cup. He's unbelievable. He really is - and good, well done to him. You can't argue with the status he has in life."

Beckham retired from football at the end of last season at the age of 38 following a short spell at Paris St. Germaine.

"Well, for me, it would have pleased me more to see him be a great, great player, you know?" Ferguson added.

"As I said, I'm a football man. But how can I argue with life? He's an icon for young people... and represents himself the proper way. And I say well done.

"Amazing boy, yeah. I mean, how he has created himself. He's fantastic. Wonderful boy."

David Beckham Leaving LA Galaxy

David Beckham Leaving LA Galaxy

Beckham announced he is leaving the Galaxy after winning the MLS Cup Final on November 19, 2012. After leading Galaxy to a second successive MLS Cup Final, Beckham wants to "experience one last challenge before the end of my playing career".

Becks will make a decision after discussing the move with his wife, Victoria (Posh Spice) and family.

"Retirement is something I'm not thinking about yet," said the former Man United and Real Madrid midfielder.

"I still feel I can take on another challenge, what that will be I don't know."

Beckham intends to play regular first-team football.

PSG offered Beckham a multi-million pound contract to move to Paris last November but he opted not to accept the offer due to family reasons.

Beckham joined Manchester United as a 14-year-old, winning six Premier League titles and the Champions League. He moved to Real Madrid in a £25m deal in 2003, winning the La Liga title in 2007. Beckham has played for Galaxy six years.

"I don't see this as the end of my relationship with the league as my ambition is to be part of the ownership structure in the future," he said.

PSG's big-name signings

  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic: £15.7m from AC Milan (July 2012)
  • Javier Pastore: £37m from Palermo (August 2011)

David Beckham Believe Man United Will Beat Man City For Title

United are the current title holders and are sitting behind City this season at the top of the table. Roberto Mancini’s side are currently five points clear at the top of the table after 13 games.

David Beckham believes Manchester City do not have a chance of beating local rivals United to the Premier League title this season.

Roberto Mancini’s side are currently five points clear at the top of the table after 13 games but Beckham believes experience will play a key role in the run-in. He said, ‘I don’t think Manchester City have a chance. This season they have got a good team and have some good players, but Manchester United have more experience and know how to win a championship.’

Beckham to Play in LA Galaxy MLS Cup League Championship

"I'm 36 years old," remarked David Beckham when asked about his future plans.

"I have to see where I am at the end of the season, take a break and see where my head's at and where my body's at."

Several clubs have been linked to Beckham including Paris Saint-Germain and England's Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers.

Beckham said his torn left Achilles tendon he suffered in January 2010 while playing on loan for AC Milan still bothers him.

"With the ruptured Achilles, it takes its toll," said Beckham, who had 15 assists and two goals during the season and three assists in the playoffs. "I know I'm not ready to finish (playing) yet. At the end of the day, I need to see where I'm at physically."

"I have back pain at my age, but this didn't feel right."

"I was able just to train through it and I had a couple of weeks rest," Beckham said.

"It was still fractured when I came back playing but I was without pain. I assume it's just mended itself now."

2011 MLS Comeback Player of the Year

Ace midfielder for LA Galaxy, David Beckham, hopes to play for England, even though he will be 37 when Euro 2012 begins.

Beckham has improved his chances of representing England in the Euro 2012 - the US Major League Soccer (MLS) announced Becks as the winner of the 2011 MLS Comeback Player of the Year.

Beckham has helped lead the Galaxy back to the brink of an MLS Cup Championship on home turf. They will play the Houston Dynamo on Nov 20 for the title, which would be Beckham's first in MLS.

Beckham got 15 assists in the 2011 MLS regular season games - five better than his previous best in MLS of 10 in 2008, Xinhua reported.

The former England captain appeared in only seven league games in 2010 after injuring his Achilles tendon while on loan with AC Milan.

Beckham's career-high appearances in MLS (26) this year helped LA clinch their second consecutive Supporter's Shield with the second-highest point total in league history (67).

Voting for the award was conducted among MLS management, media and players. Beckham won over D. C. United's forward Charlie Davies and Chicago Fire forward Dominic Oduro.

The 115-cap star is tipped to join French club Paris St Germain in a bid to restart his international career.

At this point Fabio Capello, England manager, is not planning on adding Beckham to his squad for the Euro finals.

"No. I think he will be involved in the Olympic Games," remarked Capello.

"I haven't thought about this," he said.

Beckham last played for England two years ago in the World Cup qualifying victory over Belarus.
