Premier League table leaders Manchester United will open Week 2 of the 2017-18 campaign with a trip to face Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in Saturday's early kick-off. Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho will hope to see his side follow their 4-0 throttling of West Ham United with another victory against the Swans, as Mourinho’s former club Chelsea play a derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The Blues recently lost the 2017 FA Community Shield to Arsenal at Wembley Stadium and will return to Wembley again as they look to beat Tottenham at their temporary home venue while their new stadium is being built. Chelsea’s Diego Costa celebrates with his mates after scoring his 17th goal of the season in Chelsea's win at West Ham.

Premier League Top Goal Scorers: Diego Costa

Of note is that two of the top goal scorers in the Premier League - Diego Costa and Eden Hazard - both play for league leaders Chelsea. This season Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur; Romelu Lukaku, Everton; Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal; Diego Costa, Chelsea; Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Manchester United; Jermain Defoe, Sunderland; Dele Ali, Tottenham Hotspur; Kun Aguero, Manchester City; Sadio Mane, Liverpool; and Eden Hazard, Chelsea are the top 10 goal scorers to date in the England Premier League. Chelsea’s top goal scorers this season to date are Diego Costa with 17 goals and Eden Hazard with 11 goals. Chelsea is still in first place on the 2016-17 England Premier League Table. Tottenham Hotspur is in second, Manchester City is in third, Arsenal is in fourth, Liverpool is in fifth, Manchester United in in sixth, and Everton is in seventh.

Premier League: West Ham United 1-2 Chelsea

West Ham goal: Manuel Lanzini 90 +1:51

Chelsea goals: Eden Hazard 25, Diego Costa 50

Chelsea defeated West Ham and moved ahead 10 points clear at the top of EPL Table due to goals from Diego Costa and Eden Hazard. The win ensures Conte’s side have a ten-point lead going into the final 12 EPL matches of the 2016-17 campaign. Only a fall of epic proportions will see the title go to another club in May.

Hazard opened the match scoring for the Blues at 25’. Chelsea doubled their lead after the break when Diego Costa converted Cesc Fabregas’ corner, ambitious for all three points. Manuel Lanzini scored a consolation goal for West Ham United in injury-time.

After the victory, the Blue’s top goal-scorer Diego Costa has warned his Chelsea teammates against falling into complacency as they look to wrap up the Premier League silverware. By beating London rivals West Ham 2-1 the Blues restored their 10-point advantage over second-placed Tottenham Hotspur. With eleven league games remaining, Antonio Conte’s side are the favorites to win the title, however Costa insists nothing is guaranteed at the point.

“We can’t go onto the pitch with the mind-set of thinking we’re champions already - that we have the title wrapped up,” said Costa. ”There’s still a long way to go. We do have a good advantage but we have to keep doing what we’re doing. We just have to try and keep winning and take it one step at a time.”

Chelsea’s prolific striker Diego Costa said that his training-round row with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte earlier in the season was "nothing," saying he is fully focused on winning the Premier League. Reportedly Costa had been dropped from the squad to play Leicester City in January after a heated argument with Conte over a back injury. The incident happened days after a lucrative approach from Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian but Costa was back to the starting lineup, scoring on his return against Hull City the following weekend. Tianjin later confirmed that Chelsea's unwillingness to consider offers had killed any potential deal.

"It was nothing," Costa said about the row after he had scored in Chelsea's 2-1 win at West Ham on Monday. People here [in England] make up a lot of stuff. Things happen, but I'm showing now that there's nothing to it. I'm playing and scoring goals, and that's the important thing. Everyone knows that anything I say has bigger repercussions than what it was. The manager is someone who works us really hard in training. He's got his personality just like I've got mine and others have theirs, but the important thing is to show your personality in a way that benefits the team. This is what's happening. Everyone is on the same page and that's the way we have to go."

Costa said the win at West Ham revealed the difference in playing West Ham since their move to the London Stadium from Upton Park at the start of this season.

"They were always a difficult team to play in their old ground,” said Costa. “It was always a tough game. When they come to a bigger pitch, with the crowd further from the players, maybe they don't feel the same heat from the crowd. For us or other teams that come here it's almost like coming to a neutral ground, because no one's used to be playing here. It's more equal."

Chelsea has a massive10-point lead at the top of the Premier League with 11 matches remaining, but Costa warned about being over-confident.

"There's still a long way to go. We do have a good advantage but we have to keep doing what we're doing. We just have to try and keep winning and take it one step at a time," said Costa.

Chelsea superstar Brazilian midfielder David Luiz put in a solid display and was a key player in the Blues 2-1 win over London rivals West Ham at the London Stadium on Monday evening. According to former Chelsea player Frank Lampard, Luiz is the best center-half currently competing in the England Premier League. The defender spent three years at Stamford Bridge between 2011 - 2014 before joining Paris Saint-Germain for £50million. Chelsea brought him back to west London for £34m last summer. Since then the 29-year-old has been a mainstay in Antonio Conte’s Blues’ side this term, helping Chelsea in their ambitious title race.

“He’s matured, he was a very good player before he left for PSG,” said Lampard. “His defensive work has been brilliant, he’s certainly improved and grown up as a man. He’s probably the best centre-half in the league right now.”

With the league title looking pretty much wrapped up by Chelsea this season, attention is already on the nominees for the PFA Player of the Year award. Chelsea’s stunning defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante is strongly in the running after playing in all but one of the side’s clashes this term giving Conte’s side just what they needed to win. Perhaps Kante deserves the Player of the Year award alongside his second Premier League medal. Kante was overlooked in favor of Riyad Mahrez for the award last season and ended up in third behind Jamie Vardy after the Foxes’ historic fairy-tale campaign. This season team-mates Hazard and Diego Costa are also top favortes along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Pedro opens scoring for Chelsea

England Premier League Week 9: Manchester United 0-4 Chelsea FC

Titan England Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea went head to head on Sunday at Old Trafford in a one-sided battle as both giant clubs seek to earn a top spot on the EPL Table this season.

Chelsea came out of the starting gate revved up and aggressive to score the first of their four goals within a minute of the match opening - then staying in control after their positive start to win the exciting match 4-0 before 41,424 supporters for both sides.

After the game both managers were asked what they thought of the result.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was happy and optimistic.

"We made a fantastic start. We scored the early goal but we continued to play good football, intensity and possession, create many chances. Today we didn't concede, which was important. It was a type of win that increases the confidence,” said Conte. "We wanted to show our ambition and give the satisfaction to our fans and show last season was very bad."

Former title and trophy winning Chelsea boss and current Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho thought his side were far from playing their A game.

"You come with a strategy, you cannot concede a goal in the way we did. We were coming to have an offensive approach. We wanted to create chances; we showed that after the 1-0. The second and the third were counter-attack goals,” said Mourinho. "It is one of those days when you give the advantage to opponents by doing nothing. In terms of points, we got zero points, we lose three points. We are six points from the top, three from the top four, we now need to win matches. We need to win our matches now, which are not easy. We need to win to close that gap - after these last three matches, we made two out of nine. We now need points."

Coming up this week, both clubs have midweek derby matches to prepare for. Chelsea travel across London to face West Ham in the EFL Cup fourth round on Wednesday at the Olympic Stadium and Manchester United host noisy neighbours Manchester City at Old Trafford in a not-tobe-missed Manchester Derby in the same competition on the same day.October 26.

New Man United manager and former Chelsea FC manager Joes Mourinho admitted ahead of the game that he is not invincible – and he was right.

The Red Devils manager headed back to West London for the first time since he was fired last December. United got in the groove on Thursday as United trounced Fenerbahce in the 2016 Europa League Group Stage match. Newly hired and highly paid midfielder Paul Pogba finally delivered for United with a world-class match-winning performance and Wayne Rooney returned to the fold putting in a powerful performance as United captain.

Chelsea won the match 4-0 as the London Blues earned a third straight victory, and another clean sheet, devastating Manchester United to move up to fourth in the Premier League table on goal difference.

Chelsea skipper Gary Cahill scores second goal

Chelsea’s Pedro opened the scoring within the first minute before stand-in skipper Gary Cahill extended the lead midway through the first half. Eden Hazard made it 3-0 after the break before N'Golo Kante made it 4-0 with his first goal for Chelsea, from a Pedro flick.

Thibaut Courtois earned a clean sheet, not missing a save making crucial first-half saves from Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford and then denying Jesse Lingard and Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the break.

Conte made no changes to this side that beat Leicester last weekend, with Cesar AzpilicuetaDavid Luiz and Cahill continuing at the heart of the defence. Pedro made his 50thappearance for the Blues while Diego Costa, who scored his seventh goal of the season last weekend, led the line.

An injured Wayne Rooney and former Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata started on the bench for United.

Pedro’s spectacular opening goal was the fastest Premier League goal of the season so far.

David Luiz stopped a Marcus Rashford delivery from scoring the equalizer.

The visitors made one change at the break as Mata replaced Marouane Fellaini, and Paul Pogba dropped into a deeper position alongside Herrera.

Champions League Update -Chelsea, AC Milan, Barca, Juve

Oscar, Chelsea FC

Champions League Update & News - Chelsea, AC Milan, Barca, Juve

In his first official start for Chelsea, twenty-year-old Oscar repaid manager Roberto Di Matteo's faith with a stunning double in the Champions League against Juventus at Stamford Bridge.

On Wednesday Chelsea opened their defence of its Champions League title by loosing a commanding lead to draw 2-2 against Italian champion Juventus.

Brazilian midfielder Oscar marked his first start for Chelsea with two long-range goals, but Arturo Vidal pulled a goal back close to halftime and substitute Fabio Quagliarella equalized late on.

"We are disappointed and a little bit deflated to get in a great position to win the game and come away with only a draw," Chelsea manager Roberto di Matteo said. "We should have closed the game."

"Every young boy in Brazil dreams of playing in the Champions League so for me to realise this dream, it makes me very proud," said Oscar.

The 20-year-old midfielder joined the European champions after the Olympics from Brazilian side Internacional.

Oscar, a star of South American football, has established himself at international level with six full caps and is expected to play a key role at the 2014 World Cup in his home country.

Barcelona needed two late goals from superstar Lionel Messi to win 3-2 against Spartak Moscow.

RSC Anderlecht goalkeeper Silvio Proto, a boyhood AC Milan fan, was delighted after a string of fine saves earned his side a 0-0 draw at San Siro.

"I'm delighted, especially because I have Italian roots, Italian blood. I think today is one of the best days of my father's life."
