New Bayern Munich boss and former Barca manager, Pep Guardiola denied saying new Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova would not be able to manage both Neymar and Lionel Messi playing side by side, while launching fierce criticism of club president Sandro Rosell.

Reportedly, Santos vice-president Odlio Rodrigues said Pep Guardiola had encouraged Neymar to sign for Bayern Munich instead of Barcelona, telling the player's father that Vilanova would be unable to manage having both the Brazilian and Lionel Messi in the same team.

Guardiola denied the story, saying: "I don't know the vice-president of Santos but probably his intermediaries have got this very wrong, because the information they have given him is false.

"I would never make any comments like those he said I made."

Guardiola said he had spoken to Neymar three years ago, at Rosell's request, to convince him to sign for Barcelona, and met him at the Ballon d'Or awards in January.

Guardiola did admit to speaking to Neymar's father in New York when he became the Bayern coach "to see what his situation was".

"In that meeting and in the two conversations we had before that I must have told him 20 times how well he would do at Barcelona, and in none of those three meetings did the name Tito Vilanova come up," said Guardiola. "It's not necessary for me to say if he [Vilanova] is a capable coach or not, he was my assistant for five years and what he did last year speaks for itself, because he led the club to their greatest season in their history.

"What's more, the best players can always play together and those two [Neymar and Messi] are capable of playing together for many years."

Guardiola said he spoke to Rosell when he left.

"I told them I was going 6,000 km away and asked them to leave me in peace, but they haven't kept their word.

"I did my time then decided to leave.

"I want them to get on with the job and I wish them all the success in the world, because their success will also be mine, I don't need to say what I feel for this club."

Guardiola said the board suggested that he had not made enough effort to see Vilanova when he was diagnosed with cancer.

"Too many things have happened that have crossed the line.

"I will never forget that they used Tito's illness to cause me damage, because it's a lie that I never saw him in New York.

"I saw him once, and the reason I didn't see him more often was because it wasn't possible, and that wasn't my fault.

"To say that I don't wish the best of someone who was my colleague for so many years is very bad taste, and I didn't expect that."

"I did the best I could at Barcelona," he said.

"The staff and coaches have nothing to worry about. I left and have nothing to complain about, all I asked was to be left in peace. I went off to learn English and I ended up trying to learn German.

"That was all I focused on. I just ask the board to go their own way and leave me alone and stop using me and my friends to hurt me."

Pep Guardiola was appointed manager at Barcelona in 2008 by then president Joan Laporta, who was succeeded by Rosell in 2010. Two years later Guardiola took a sabbatical in New York, before agreeing to take over as coach of Bayern Munich in January 2013.

Barca acted early in the transfer market to hire Neymar to back up Lionel Messi in the 2013-14 campaign.

Twenty-year-old Neymar began his career at Camp Nou on Monday with 56,000 fans who turned out to welcome the brilliant Brazilian to the Catalan capital.

Neymar signed a five-year-deal with Barcelona for €57 million - he will be the club's most expensive new arrival this summer.

Barca may also sign Lazio's veteran Germany frontman Miroslav Klose, his colleague Mario Gomez, Brazil's Leandro Damiao or Manchester United's Mexican forward Chicharito.

Goalkeeper Victor Valdes now confirmed for one final season at the Catalan club before leaving on a free contract in 2014.

Barcelona's top target for a new defender is Thiago Silva.

Tito Vilanova's team ran away with La Liga as they racked up 100 points to equal Real Madrid's record from the previous campaign and also reached the semi-finals of both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

However, Barca was defeated by Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals despite Lionel Messi's incredible goalscoring stats.

In a three-year contract, Barcelona have agreed to sell Spain international, David Villa, to Atletico de Madrid for €5.1 million, subject to Villa passing a medical.

The Blaugrana directors have agreed that Athletico will pay an initial €2.1 million, two more million next summer and a one more million the following summer if El Guaje stays until the end of the 2015-16 season.

In addition, Atletico will have to pay Barca 50 percent of the transfer fee if Villa leaves the Vicente Calderon before the end of his three-year contract.

Rumor has it that it is shocking that Barca president Sandro Rosell and his board of directors accepted a low offer for the best goal scorer in the history of the Spanish national team who was bought for €40 million from Valencia jthree seasons ago.

Reportedly the Catalan giants need to raise money in order to afford the signing of a new central defender.

During the 2013 summer transfer window, James Rodriguez went to Monaco (€45 million), Mario Gomez to Fiorentina (€20 million) Ricky van Wolfswinkel to Norwich (€10 million), and David Villa to Athletico (€5.1 million).

Real Madrid rejected a €27 million offer from Arsenal for striker Gonzalo Higuain.

Lionel Messi Charged With Tax Fraud | Fc Barcelona

Lionel Messi Charged With Tax Fraud

Messi earned $41.3 million to June this year; with $20.3 coming from his club salary and $21 million in endorsements.

The 25-year-old Messi has won four straight FIFA world player of the year awards. He has scored 133 goals for Barcelona over the last two seasons. The forward scored 60 goals in all competitions this season, leading Barcelona to the Spanish league title.

Raquel Amado, a state prosecutor, filed a fraud complaint Barca superstar against Lionel Messi, alleging the Barcelona and Argentina striker tried to conceal the extent of his real earnings and that he owes 4 million euros ($5.3 million) in back taxes.

Amado claims that from 2006-2009 Messi "obtained significant revenue derived from the transfer to third parties of his image rights, income which should have been taxed."

The complaint says Messi "circumvented his tax obligations" by using shell companies in tax havens such as Belize and Uruguay.

The trial will be held in Gava where Messi resides.

The complaint names both Messi and his father, Jorge Horacio Messi.

"We are surprised," Messi said on his Facebook account, "because we have never committed any infringement. We have always fulfilled all our tax obligations, following the advice of our tax consultants who will take care of clarifying this situation."

Sports finance analyst at the University of Navarra, Professor Sandalio Gomez, said that if found guilty of evading tax on his image rights, Messi could be liable to a fine amounting to 150 percent of the earnings concealed. A guilty verdict would not carry a jail sentence, Gomez said.

"I think it's grandstanding," said a sports management professor. "They see it as a demonstration effect - everybody takes notice. Everybody thinks, I'd better pay my taxes."

"If Spain is going to become as strict as northern European countries, then maybe at that point he decides that he's willing to move," Szymanski continued.

Barcelona declined to comment.
