Barcelona Fc's superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar compete in International Champions Cup 2017

Match Report

    Barcelona 2-1 Juventus

Juve Goal: Chiellini (62’)

Barca Goals: Neymar (15’, 26’)

The Bianconeri’s Giorgio Chiellini managed to get an early goal but Barça stayed in front earning a well deserved victory to start their preseason.

Spanish La Liga giant club Barcelona kicked off their preseason with a International Champions Cup victory in their entertaining clash against titan Italian club Juve that ended in a 2-1 win for Barca at MetLife Stadium. New Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde used two different teams in each of the two halves in his managerial debut. Barcelona superstar striker Neymar delighted fans with a spectacular performance that secured the win in the first period with two goals.

The Blaugrana were very strong in the first period, dominating possession and pressing high up the pitch to force Italian Serie A champions Juventus into making mistakes. Neymar and superstar striker Lionel Messi were goal-hungry, and they constantly backed each other up creating opportunities for Barca to score. On two occasions, the two created goals: Messi passed to Neymar who with help from Paco Alcácer converted to the top left corner. Messi assisted Neymar as the talented Brazilian went on a spectacular run through the defense to make it 2-0 for the Catalan giants. Barça got a few free-kicks that tested Gianluigi Buffon to no avail.

At halftime, Barça went into their dressing room well in control and up two goals after a dominating performance. Juventus had a much stronger lineup than Barça in the second half. The Blaugrana still managed to dominate, staying in possession and creating good chances through Denis Suárez and Luis Suárez.
